Pulling Other Researchers: Part II
PQ Posted Jan 31, 2003
End of february...well it's better than the end of jan - a whole month to find something
*adds pastey to list of people to keep an eye out for jobs for*
So are they going to outsource it....at least if they do you will be able to go back in a year and say "I told you so"

I really hope anyone starting with a cold now doesn't get what I'm just getting rid of - from the time it kicked in on Sunday evening until last night, I was feeling very rough with the usual flu symptoms, and (unusually) had no appetite for any kind of food.

Bummer; sorry to hear about the impending involuntary employment status adjust*, Pastey; however, I'm sure you'll be able to find something that suits you!
[* clearly it's way past my bedtime if that's the best euphemism I can come up with... ]

It wasn't me, Potholer.
You have already said I didn't
Pastey, there must be a job in a brewery factory as a tester, surely?

I was hoping to stay out of the licensed trade, but it may be a case of any job'll do, except possibly going back to the Post Office.

In return for getting up at 4am, working your a**e off trying to sort mail, getting your round ready, putting up with little Hitl*r managers who can't get a job elsewhere, then walk around with delivering sacks weighing up to 13kg each over your shoulder. Do this in all weathers, rain, snow, hail included, usually when it's dark as well. Then sure, you've got the afternoon free. To do what? You go into a pub in the afternoon and you get funny looks "Hey, this is my evening!" All your mates are at work in their normal jobs, and by the time they finish you're ready for bed. Then you can't actually sleep properly because it's still light outside, and when you do finally drop off, your other half comes up to bed and you wake up again. You have *no* weekends because it's a six day a week job, so you can't go out on a Friday because you've got to be up at 4am, you could go out on a Saturday, but you've been up *since* 4am so by the time the evening comes around, you're ready for bed. Oh, and add to that, the pay's crud.
I'll pass if I can help it.
