Forgot to pack the Ted bakers! Thankfully the nude heels will go with anything. And it's a bit windy here in rossknowlagh, my dress was in danger of Marilyn monroeing on me!

The dubarry boots with their furry tops are attracting comments, but are absolutely perfect for the weather. Tucked into them are olive green trousers, topped with a dusky orange silk shirt (jaegar £20) and another of my multiway items, a truffle cocoa cardigan with 2 buttons at the neck and apricot silk insets at the shoulders. It can be wrapped around, or left as a waterfall drape, or crossed over at the buttons and left in folds at the front. Against the weather I have a grey dkny wool jacket from tkmaxx, a soft brown paisley shawl ( Oscar de la renta, via tkmaxx) and my tartan gloves.

Tartan gloves, that reminds me, must knit son's pink arm socks, I started one a while ago and then realised I'd made it too wide so started again. Must get back to it.

Have moved hotels, but still in donegal. Now having dinner with my husband in downings, way up on the north coast. The hotel is roasting, so I've changed back into the green dress, but with grey leggings and timberland thongs ( those are shoes, not undies.....). It seems to be a versatile dress, can be glammed up or casualled down. I like it.

What Australians call flip flops. Just in case your ever in a bar down under and see a sign cautioning "no thongs"!

Until a decade or two ago, that's what I called flip-flops, too.

Downings
It's freezing cold outside- in fact there's a dusting if snow on muckish and errigal mountains. For a walk on the beach, I'm wearing the lucky jeans with a pair of paprika red walking boots. I have a pale green open weave jumper bought online from warehouse, and a ginger T shirt. Now, sizing of clothes is a much debated topic. It varies from country to country and from store to store. Marks and spencer recently notoriously resized their clothes, so while this top , bought from m&s for £4 says a "6" on the label, which would be a 2 in US sizing, and getting close to the fabled Size Zero, in my experience it's more like an 8.
Favourite item today is my pull on beanie with fleece lining, which was a souvenir of the world police and fire games, that I partaked in the opening ceremony of in august.

Swapped the red boots for the knee high dubarrys, and the green sweater for the truffle cardi in drape formation, with a coral statement necklace and enjoyed early bird dinner ( 2 courses €12.50) in the next door beach hotel, then we went to the harbour inbox, which was a real old fashioned pub- real fire at one end, live music at the other, beer mats on the ceiling, old timers reminiscing over a pint. A good evening. And the stars are shining.

Packing and heading for home
Jeans with a craghoppers tunic in grey and green stripes. I went through a phase of acquiring lots of craghoppers clothes, especially the lightweight and mosquito proof items, which were invaluable in Africa . They keep tempting me with 60% off sales, but really, I have enough.
