My goodness, what a kerfuffle.

It really started on Friday afternoon but it's reaching fever pitch now. The MTV EMA Awards have landed in Belfast and not without causing some considerable disruption to life. Katie Perry was spotted in Primark of all places and Rhianna in HMV (but we've already seen Rhianna in Bangor in her bikini in October so she's old news).

Justin Beiber is also here, I was hoping us residents would be given tickets out of the place when he arrived but apparently not.

Travel anywhere around the city centre is almost at a standstill because around every corner is some celebrity holding up traffic - boy am I old? Possibly too old to be bothered with all that fuss.

This time Monday it'll be back to porridge and all the celebs will be off about their business and I'll be able to drive from A to B without trying to dodge screaming crowds and traffic police.

I found myself wondering grumpily just how bad the traffic in London is gonna be during the Olympics the other day...

Well given that traffic in and around London is horrific on the best of days I'd book a holiday if I were you.

Belfast generally isn't anywhere nearly as bad as London on a normal day and in all fairness it isn't as bad as London on a normal day even with just about every popstar on the planet posing about the place. It's just, rather typically, when I have a place to go I like to get there.

Justin Beiber. Hasn't Belfast suffered enough?

Thank you both for your sympathies. Had a close shave last night when he was spotted with his girlfriend drinking in an establishment only 10 mins away from my house.

I took evasive action though by switching off the lights and closing the curtains just in case he decided to call on me or my daughter - he'd think we were out!

Is he old enough to drink?

He's old enough to cause people to drink. And to wear earplugs.
