There are currently about 20 researchers with entries in PR ..... what's that about.

Has the site moved on and nobody told me.

I thought Icy has kick-started PR with his schme, but it is rather life-less at the moment - Must all be watching Strictly.

There's a scheme.

What scheme? I must have missed that, but then I'm not subscriobed to PR.

What I can't understand is that, despite the paucity of Entries going forward in PR, I've got 4 completed Entries which haven't been picked... and yet I've seen others be picked when there is still active convo. going on . (I wondered whether someone has said, 'Don't pick BigAl's Entries')

One is an update, updates aren't picked.
No idea about the others, though.

BigAl, have you tried 'bumping' them up the list with a 'I think this is ready' message?

No, one isn't s'posed to bump 'em - so I don't.

I think there are two factors:

Scouts aren't doing their job properly, and only noticing Entries that have active convo's going on.

Understandably, Scouts, like Peer Reviewers in general, only read Entries that actually interest them. So, this reflects a paucity of Scouts and hence, necessarily, a narrow range of interests.

By definition, this is unnecessary as an Entry should not even be put into PR until the author thinks it is ready. I rake the advice of someone who told me, when I first joined hootoo, to make sure that mine is the last Entry on the page - to say that I've attended to the points suggested.

Sometimes they are not seen, mainly because those lagging at the end of the list are thought (sometimes wrongly) to perhaps be 'elvised' researchers whose work is waiting to be moved.

No doubt this matter will be resolved shortly.

Well, when I first joined hootoo there were Scouts who prided themselves on looking out for older Entries, rather than those that had active convos going on. It's these Scouts who seem to be in short supply now.

Perhaps we need some new blood

Well, don't look at me. GB tried to recruit me a year or two ago, but I'm far too busy IRL at present

You only have to choose 3 articles per month.

If you haven't got time to comment in PR, that's okay too.

Trouble is, although I do try to read and comment on other Researcher's Entries, I seldom have time to read 'em properly - even the ones I'm interested in, so I have been known to make mistakes. I was criticised for this very recently.. Made me consider not bothering to even comment in PR

As long as you feel the articles are near completion, and it's your turn to make selections, you just get on with it. No-one knows who selects, unless they are Scouts of course.

You also have the opportunity to ask for help in the Scouts Forum, if you need further advice.

Well, this is what I feel is part of the problem. Scouts feel they HAVE to make their 3 selections, and 'press the button'; whether that Entry is ready or not. At the same time, they're not checking down the list to see if there are any completed Entries that are more deserving of being picked at that particular point.
