Yeah, I have a couple of badges too, but my first year here I chatted ..... nothing else but chat.

Even when writing I mostly chatted so when you strip the site right down what we do is chat.

No, as long as we manage to ignore the troublemakers, ther's never trouble with hootoo.

You're right of course ..... but I've always had trouble with vocal minorities ...... comes from our troubled past here I guess.

if it wern't for hootoo, I'd not have the friends I have here and therefore not met some of them, plus the Ed's are ace as well - they've put up with me and my P.S plenty of times

yes, there is a lot of chatting on here, it's why I keep coming back. But then it is more thsan that. A few years ago you'd hear stuff about 'sticky' communities and how H2G2 is a rare place in that people do hang around for years and years and still be involved.

Yet the community is the one bit that to me seems ignored and everyone places emphasis on the guide. The guide is important and a main part of this site, but the nature of the community that produces it is what gives it its unique flavour. If we had a largely migratory community you wouldn;t have time for all the social myths to build up and for style and content to develop.

I think the lack of focus on the community cannot be ignored when considering the state of the guide and pr.
