freedom, music and the abolition of nations

An idea I'd like to ask for your input on:
Nations are clubs.
Citizenship is club membership.
Nationality and Citizenship has nothing at all to do with culture, shared history or ethnicity.
America, then later Australia, was the first State of this kind.
In an increasingly globally interdependent economy, the role of nationality is more and more toward protectionism.
In a world of free trade, the lines of nationality and sovereign rule become even sketchier.
It is time for national interest to take a back seat to global interest. We're all in it together.
Anyway, these are my thoughts and I know I'm not alone with them. We always talks about the continuing evolution of our race, maybe this is what comes next?
Maybe I'm just re-hashing John's Imagine.
