that whole long list of totally gross things, and you pick "bile" to go all over?
who the heck is Nigella Lawson
and the only ear i like are elephant ears.
"airport" sounds dreadfully boring!
sometimes i like to watch Ripley's believe it or not.
as a whole though, TV kinda sucks. and to think i pay $50 bucks [29 pounds] per month for cable!
hey, any good movies out on video?
i just watched s1m0ne. i thought it was funny
someone told me it's supposed to suck a$$, though.
petey OUT!

I picked bile because you normally only see that if you've been very, very sick...(bleagh)
Nigella Lawson's a cookery writer who also has a cookery show - she's a lot more down to earth than most of the TV Chef people, and the stuff she cooks is more the sort of thing you do at home (the sort of 'chuck it in a pan and see what comes out' variety). And she doesn't mess about with this arty 'presentation' rubbish - it all gets plonked on plates, or dumped into dishes. That's my sort of cooking.
'Airport' tends to focus on people as much as situations, and they've found all sorts of really interesting folk to follow. It's always great fun watching the conflicts, like people who turn up after the flight's closed and then kick off because they want to get on and the staff won't let them. You sit there and think 'Serves you right, you pompous berk' or whatever.
Like the tiresome person last night who thought they shouldn't have to pay excess baggage on the huge heap of luggage that they wanted to check in - just because a relative worked for the airline. The person had so much that the excess baggage charge would have been £500 - and rang the relative to get them to try and force the Flight Manager get the charge waived and the baggage loaded.
I was so chuffed when the Flight Manager won the argument (as he was completely and totally in the right) and the person had to send the stuff as cargo - they had to go and organise it personally so they missed the original flight. There is justice in this world sometimes then...
Or maybe I just don't have a life...
I haven't noticed much coming out on VHS or DVD at the moment - as I've not been keeping tabs on that. I think it says a lot that the last DVD I got was Moulin Rouge - that's how long ago it was that I bought one!
I've not heard of S1m0ne, though. What's it about?
Stay

About the bile...oh, I see... that kinda makes sense then...
About "Airport", I can see how you were "chuffed" [never hearda that word. Interesting] when justice was served
I've noticed that a lot of people are so freegin demanding, thinking that the whole entire world is there just to service THEM. It bugs the hell outta me
People who think they are the center of EVERYONE's universes are very annoying.
S1m0ne is about a failing movie director whose leading actress in his latest movie runs out on him, leaving him searching desperately for another woman to play the lead role.
It ends up he can't find anyone, so he uses a computer generated woman, who becomes a total sensation
and, nobody realizes that she isn't real!
I digged it but I think it got sucky ratings.
No matter to me, though. If I like it, then I like it. Period.

and, yeah, i'm gonna stay . it's my nature

Ah - 'Chuffed' means pretty much what you guessed it means. I love our linguistic differences!
S1m0ne hasn't come out over here as far as I'm aware (whether it went straight to Video or not I don't know, but I'm not in touch with what's on where at the moment so I may be talking through my hat here).
But the plot does remind me slightly (this is a *very* tenuous connection!) of an episode in Blackadder Goes Forth (a superlative British Comedy starring Rowan Atkinson as a British Army Captain in the Trenches during the First World War - in case it hasn't been shown in the US) where he has to put on a variety show but has no female singer. So he uses one of his male colleagues, who is a sensation - though Colonel Melchett is so impressed that he thinks that the guy really *is* a woman and goes on to wine and dine 'her'!
They find then that one of the Private soldiers is actually a woman dressed up as a man in a fit of eagerness to 'battle the Bosch', who steps in when the guy loses his voice or something (can't remember exactly what now) and is an even bigger sensation - except for the Colonel who gives Blackadder a right blasting for replacing 'the lovely Georgina' with a 'female impersonator'!
scenarios abound in the Blackadder world, though 'Blackadder II' will always be my favourite.

s1m0ne is...umm...kind of like that "Blackadder Goes Forth" episode, except without any gay undercurrents
i think British comedy is funnier than American like trigger happy tv i that.
i'm so tired. i'm in the hospital right now, on -call!
i pack lots of balance bars to eat when i'm on call.
they're yummy!
peter out!

Love the new nickname '?'! Hi Kess - welcome to the Kennel!
I think my favourite all time Blackadder episode has got to be 'Head' from Blackadder II. I don't think anyone put a foot wrong at any time, and it's a complete hoot from start to finish.
'Potato' also has it's moments - how Miranda Richardson didn't laugh when Queenie was describing the wild dreams she has I just don't know.
Total class. But then that could be said for all of the Blackadder Series (including the 'Blackadder Christmas Carol') - though that 'time machine' one they filmed for the Millennium could have been better.
Another wonderful episode was the one in the original 'The Black Adder' when he had to marry the Spanish Infanta - her interpreter (the completely amazing Jim Broadbent) was a total scream!
We used to be able to make quality television once. What went wrong?
(I could go on for hours and hours and hours about that - and it's a big debate in the UK at the moment - so I think I'll shut up!)
can't keep up with my name changes, huh?

Hmm. Itriguing!
How about the following for your next change: '%@=€'
Will that be possible with a € in it? That's the challenge for today!
I don't mind how you got here or why you did it - you're here and that's what counts!
All are welcome in my Kennel, and there's even a bit of or or even if you want.

The € is the sign for the Euro - the 'new currency' that they use in the European Union (well some of the EU - we don't use it in Britain).
'%@=€' looks a bit like a skew eyed psychotic rabbit with a beard I think - though I couldn't find anything to do for the ears. I'm new to all this emoticon business!
As for flapjacks - oooooh. Yum
They are a sweet and (hopefully) slightly gooey sticky mixture of oats, butter, sugar and golden syrup which are heated together and then pressed into an oiled tray and baked in the oven.
It's a bit difficult to get the timing right so that they're all nice and sticky and soft - if you overcook them then you risk them being crisp and crunchy, which is nice but not as nice as soft and chewy.
If you visit the 'Food' section of the BBC website, there are about four different recipes, and they show just what you can do with these little marvels of sweet oaty-ness. ( again)
Part of the great tradition of British baking (more )
Treacle tart, anyone?

skew eyed psychotic rabbit, eh?
that's quite a stretch!
but, don't feel too bad. i showed a friend of mine a close up of Halley's comet taken by the giotto probe and she thought it looked like a mad sheep!
flapjacks DO sound yummy!
my personal fave dessert are cheesecake brownies. YUM!
ever heard of those?

No - I haven't heard of cheesecake brownies, but by the sound of it I'd be more than happy to make their acquaintance!
Mind you, I am about to tuck into a fruit scone with blackcurrant jam, and they're pretty tasty as well.
mmmmmm
(sorry - shouldn't talk with my mouth full)

Blueberry? Oh no, I'm ing again...
Mine had raisins in it - and will do again today (I am able to fit one into my eating plan as a treat every day, and they are totally gorgeous).
Mind you - the thought of adding blueberries - and seeing them burst and marble the scone with purple...
Ooh yum.

shortbread cookies
nutrageous candy bar
can't keep up with my name changes, huh?
Conceited Little Megapuppy - Inbound traveller and Unas Matriarch Posted Feb 3, 2003
Can I put them all at number one (apart from the nutritious candy bar of course)?
Probably not. Hmm (thinks).
Big soft chewy chip cookies
Muffins (blueberry if American, Dripping with butter if English)
Flapjacks (unadulterated if possible - they don't need anything else)
Pecan Pie (with the vanilla ice cream)
Shortbread
Scones (especially with Clotted cream and Jam for a *real* treat)
Nutritious Candy Bar (They're not as nutritious as they pretend to be. They're full of sugar!)
Seriously though - the best thing you can have if you want a sweet treat is something like a scone with jam because of the carbohydrate. Something like just gives you a quick sugar hit and you're hungry again in no time.
If that's not a good excuse to have one - then I don't know what is .
name changes? what name changes?
Keseral - lost... Posted Feb 3, 2003
