Well done, 5 stone and still going, what's your target, (if we're being too intrusive here, please ignore) you've got some will power,
.
How'd you get to be so Lucky, The Alpine is amazing. A real sound painting tour de force. Have you ever done his Superman (Zarathustra) or the Blue.
We caught the end of a contemporary minimalist Cello and Piano piece on CFM the other day that was really beautiful but missed the title, it sounded like Niman but it was some Chec composer.

No I don't mind telling you my target at all - I expect it'll get even more waves of astonishment!
I'm aiming for (probably) 11 stone 4 - I'm currently around 14, so I've got another 3 or so to go (I can still remember having only *lost* three) which isn't too bad considering what I've got rid of so far. That'll give me a Body Mass Index of just over 23, which is bang in the middle of the 'right' range, and I can start the never ending battle to keep it off...
I haven't done Zarathustra (well I've done the opening, but we were playing it as the 'theme from 2001' so it doesn't count), but I have done Ein Heldenleben (on a 'play for fun' day), Don Quixote and Don Juan. Wasn't fussed on Don Juan, but Quixote was fantastic. The imagery is incredibly good.
I missed TT again last night - the rehearsal over-ran and I forgot to set the video.

Me too. Oh well - c'est la vie...
Pity really, it looked quite interesting. Still, there's bound to be a 'live' over the summer to enjoy!

They got down to the sacking of Londinium by Bodiccae in 68 BC.
Sorry to be the bearer of old tidings,

Did you catch that article in the Independent about Sir Thomas Allen blowing a fuse about the young talent and how they're lowering the tone of Real Classical Music. He's going to let rip at the Royal Phil's annual Dinner and Dance.
Apparently he's none too happy about the likes of Bond, Russel Watson, Charlotte Church, Mediaeval Babes and Vanessa Mae looking sexy and bringing classical music to a wider and less discerning audience.
Oh yeah, also heard on the local radio that Miss Church has had her bottom voted as really very good in tight trousers. Despite the fact she's only just no lopnger a minor. We think we see something of Sir Allen's point, though We suspect it's got more to do with elitism.
Somewhere along the line his sort have missed the point that there's room for everyone. Upper Class twits like him included.

A truer word was never spoken! Haven't read the article, but as we don't get the Independent (Dad being a Telegraph reader) I wouldn't have!
I'm not a Russell Watson fan, but that's only because I'm not fussed on vocal music. Nothing to do with him - good luck to the bloke. Maybe it's because he proved that you can be a great artist without having to spend a fortune at one of the Music Colleges in your teens. Tidy.
Not sure about Bond, though. I think I need to do a bit of listening before I can comment on that.
As for the Baebes - they've been opening up a whole new world of Mediaeval music to the masses - previously unheard stuff! Shame on the man! Does he just not consider their voices 'operatic' enough? Bah!
You already know my opinion of La Church, so I won't go back there again!
As an amateur 'classical' (for want of a clearer definition) musician, I say - get 'em into the concert halls - they don't know what they're missing!
Hmm - rather a lot of exclamation marks there. That's a subject to get me I think...

OK Vow never to mention Miss Church again
Can you imagine if the Stuffed Shirt Brigade had more power, we'd still be forelock tugging.
Can'tr say as I'm a fan of Russ either but as you say he's one of ours.

I think old Russ is singing at the old Cardiff Arms Park this evening as part of a 'pre FA Cup' concert (Bond are going to be there too, and so is Lesley Garrett).
I'm not going though - I've got a rehearsal and as it's the Alpine, I need to rehearse quite desperately. It's not easy!
I've gotta go now, got to put some bowings in my part (would you believe I've brought it to w*rk with me to do whilst I have my lunch?!)
Have a good weekend all.

Finchcocks is really sweet, the curators give live demo's of many instruments, with pieces ranging from Purcel to Gershwin.
The instruments are true works of the cabinet makers art, and you can tinkle the ivories of many of them too!
We had a lovely day, how was your weekend?
Back at you Pat
