Monumental Decision
Posted Jan 18, 2007
This is hardly a decision that will shake the world... but you never know.
Today, I told my boss that I didn't want my job any more. I'm waaaaaaaaay past being burned out. I will work out a long notice of perhaps two months or so, in order to launch my replacement and make the transistion easier for everyone involved.
Finally, I can move on. Part of me knows I should be out-of-my-mind frantic about quitting my job, but strangely, a complete calm has enveloped me regarding this decision. It was the right thing to do.

Smoke Free Ohio
Posted Dec 14, 2006
I've been amazed and delighted this past week as the Ohio smoking ban went into effect. Although there are no consequences towards those who break the ban until May, most people are abiding by the new law.
Smoking is banned from workplaces, restaurants, bars, and all public buildings. Also, smokers are not permitted to cluster around entrances and exits of the aforementioned places.... instead, they must keep a certain distance.
Ashtrays were quietly removed from my place of w*rk last Thursday morning and haven't been seen since. *smiles broadly* Smokers are bundling up in their warmest coats and braving freezing temperatures for their fix. A nice benefit of this "torture" is that most of them are seriously talking about quitting.
Six months ago, I wouldn't have believed this was possible. I am incredibly grateful.

Home Sweet Yurt
Posted Dec 4, 2006
After seeing the movie, "The Story of the Weeping Camel" this week, I'm fascinated with yurts.
Yurts are the traditional nomadic tents used throughout Central Asia, also known as ger. There's something aesthetically pleasing and simple about the design.
For so long now, I've dreamed of leaving the rat race of modern life and living a simple existence out somewhere beautiful. Now *this* is a home I could actually afford for well under 10k USD!

Epcot Center - China Pavillion - Temple of Heaven
Posted Sep 13, 2006
I'm quite surprised to find myself working on an assignment to produce replacement decals for the worn exterior graphics on Disney Epcot Center's Temple of Heaven. The building is an intricate, half-scale reproduction of the original temple, located in Beijing, China, built in 1420.
The following article will give you an idea of the level of detail involved in this project ...

This should be a lot of fun.
