Can I interest you in a party?
The march for Jack, A3671921, is due at My Cajun Kitchen tomorrow.
We are having a bit of a head start at the moment so they have something to work with when they get there.
The thread for the party: 507?thread=507712844" >F1712844?thread=597966&latest=1

Thank you for the kind invitation, Evangeline.
Forgive me, but I'm weirded out by crowded threads full of strangers -- it's sort of the same way in real life. I get all awkward and at the thought of parties. Ack. *ed out*
Well, face it, I'm a sort of person.

It is only Maverick, Jaz'd and me at the moment. The marchers won't get there for another five or six hours at least.

That's a *huge* crowd, you know.
I *do* hate to always be a party poo-ooper, but you usually seem to be getting revved up right about my bedtime, Evangeline. Yes, I have MAJOR night owl tendencies -- but I can hardly afford to indulge myself in more than complete mindless activities at this time of the evening. Conversation stimulates me like caffiene!!! Go away lest I become engaged in interesting matters, I beg you.

Ohhh how I wish I could click off my brain some times.
I know it's a small crowd. And, I'm completely beside myself on the matter.
How's the cold? Still a fully featured beast?

Actually, the cold/flu thing started to break up yesterday. I'm much better today, thank you.
Unfortunately, Mom started getting sick with it last night. She's had a bad day with body aches ... she slept most of the day. I spent the evening cooking, cleaning, and making sure Mom had everything she needed to be comfortable. I feel terrible about making her sick with my bug.

I am glad you're feeling better and sorry to hear about your mother catching the dratted cold.
and best wishes for a speedy recovery for both you and your mother.
Everyone here is more or less ok, thanks.

Thank you.
I'm glad to hear that you're all well. Stay that way. May I suggest never leaving the house until ... oh ... 2008?
Okay. You're a health expert-type person, Evangeline. How does one tell the difference between a cold and the flu? I'm curious. Is there some definitive line between the two?

You have no idea how much I'd like to take your suggestion
There are different strains of influenza... but the basic cold/flu difference is shown here: http://web.uct.ac.za/depts/mmi/jmoodie/influen2.html
There is also the problem of a cold or other respiratory infection turning into pneumonia.

Perhaps a little more definitive than the average lay person could possibly use ... but the historic letter was awfully interesting. That pretty much clarified the difference immediately.

Flu=

She's been sleeping for most of the last three days. She's also been queasy and nauseated with no appetite, which wasn't a symptom I had at all. At least she isn't too terribly congested, but she's coughing a lot.
I'm really concerned about the nausea. It doesn't make sense ... and it's been dragging on for three days now. She insists that she's okay, but I'm not convinced.

Evangeline Posted Feb 24, 2005
Peppermint or ginger tea might help with the nausea.
She should at least try to get some broth down, and other liquids like juice (diluted) and soup to avoid dehydration and low blood sugar.

She's been eating a little. Her idea of a beverage is an inch in a tiny glass at the moment. I've been encouraging her to drink as much as possible, but she's not much interested.
Anyway ... it's bed time for me. Hopefully, Mom will feel better in the morning. If not, I may call my brother-in-law and see if he can get her to a doctor while I'm at wo*k tomorrow.
Goodnight, Evangeline.

An inch in a glass is ok... as long as she has quite a few of those a day.
Good night AW, pleasant dreams.
