how are you?

But that's what got me into this trouble in the first place GB!
My pelvis is just too sore right now for any of that...
I've tried the nipple stimulation Meg, but that just irritates me!
That doesn't bode well for breastfeeding....
I'm going for the 'turn the phone off and wait' approach I think.
I have to admit that I got really upset last night as I realised that the medicalisation of childbirth is one of my worst nightmares, and that it might not be long before the midwives start moaning on about induction. This is where I'm glad I have a good strong Man by my side who isn't afraid to tell authority figures where to go.

Go with what you believe is right. If you are being pressured by staff and you are worried about your baby ask for further test of placental funtion, fluid volume & baby's blood supply etc (ultrasound I'm afraid).
If you are happy with baby's wellbeing you can stand together with your man's loving support and await baby's arrival.
If you get really fed up reflexology or homeopathy can encourage things to start. This of course is another form of induction
Hang in there "strong woman".

I saw a community midwife today (was supposed to come yesterday, but forgot about me! ) and was subjected to all the blah blah blah about induction...
She wants me to see the consultant in Bath so that he can 'explain' to me all about induction. I told her I don't need it to be explained to me as it's not going to happen.
Well, not unless I suddenly get worried about the health of the baby of course.
She looked a bit panicked about covering her back, so I told her to go ahead and make the appointment, but that it would be *highly* unlikely that I'd turn up. I tried to explain that as I don't drive (and walking into town to get the bus is now a problem with my sore hip/pelvis) that it would be impossible for me to get into Bath (a 45 minute bus ride at best) and that if the consultant really wanted to lecture... sorry *talk* to me then he could ring my partner up to do so as I didn't want to concern myself with getting flustered and worried.
Funny how the 3 male consultants are referred to as 'Mr Hianmitee' (to quote a certain Mary ) and the 2 female consultants are called by their first names.
I said that there is a sliding scale in my mind of the interventions that I will consider, and no, I didn't want a membrane sweep today as I'm not technically overdue (42 weeks) until next monday. That will be the first thing to try, then I'm happy to go into the MLU for CTG rather than go into Bath for induction.
I asked, as a hypothetical question of course..., that if I *were* to go for induction, would I have to stay in or could I just walk out again?? She looked at me a bit strangely then started to giggle and said no, they can't make you stay in or do anything that you don't want to do.
I think I'm going to take some homoeopathic Caulophyllum tonight to see if that will start things off. The curry I had last night didn't do the job!
Thanks for your support Meg.

Well done you being so well informed
Consultants can be good at painting a black picture of going overdue but maybe forgetting to tell you the implications of intervention. I'm sure you have read up on the subject. It's all defensive practice nowerdays I'm afraid. The medical profession don't want you blaming them if any problems occur.
I think homeopathy is worth a go, like any of the alternatives. Membrane sweeps can be effective but uncomfortable. You may need a few to be effective. Worth considering.
You are such a strong woman. You'll be great parents
