Oh! Excellent idea for a game of fetch with Jek!!!
And it'll give me a good excuse to go 4-wheeling in my Jeep into the condor sanctuary area up in the mountains!
Okay! I'll put some of my Joy de Patou or Occitane Vanilla or Neroli(they don't smell similar to anything out there in the mountains) on a metal dumbbell and head out on a nice dirt road soon!
Thanks! I needed a quick getaway for a while anyway!
I can't wait to see how soon Jek can retrieve something 5 miles away!
I'll keep an eye on the Basement and Children's room of the Willard Library from time to time. Perhaps we'll catch conclusive evidence that she's there! Although what yousaw sounded pretty convincing as sightings go!
What a busy day you've had! You do deserve a nice relaxing evening.
I just hope your computer will comply!
How has that computer been treating you today?
Unrestrained, Still Struggling
CYBERHUMAN Posted Oct 12, 2005
My computer has been playing up as usual but it's been nowhere near to the same degree as it has been playing up in the last three or four days, so maybe it's starting to behave itself and will work properly from now on... hmmm... actually I think I stand more chance of seeing the "Grey Lady" ghost!
The Research Room of the Willard Library is full tonight with loads of people, so there must be some meeting going on for the locals or something, but I doubt the ghost will make an appearance in a room that's crowded with people. As far as I know, ghosts prefer quiet, relatively empty rooms where there's as few people as possible, so that just leaves the Children's Room and the Basement empty... ooooh!!!
My hospital appointment was nothing serious by the way. Just a check-up on the operation I had back in February this year.

I *was* wondering but I'd never bring up an issue you wouldn't voluntarily disclose to me.
Besides, I'm known for omitting certain topics about myself, if I knew it might cause undue concern and worry to anyone I cared about. It drives my friends nuts, but I tend to worry more when my friends worry. Other than that,I'm pretty much morbidly candid about myself. Unless, of course, it threatens my security in some way.
I'm so glad your hospital appointment wasn't anything serious! Probably one of those follow-up deals, I'm sure.*breathes a sigh of relief*
I'll check up on thewhereabouts of the Grey Lady while you sleep!
There aren't very many souls about in the library when I'm able to look about (Indiana is 2 hours ahead of me here). So I'll take a look around between midnight and 3AM their time, which is commonly known for fruitful apparition sightings historically!
It's about time that you head off to recharge. It was so nice to hear from you tonight!
I hope that computer of yours gives you a break tomorrow and I'll see you then!
Sleep well dear friend(while I'm on the look out!)
Good night and sweet dreams!!!

Thank you for looking out for the ghost for me while I'm gone! I am off to bed in a few minutes actually so you could me pretty much in the nick of time. It's such a pity that with me living in Britain I don't get to look at the webcams during the hours of the night, but I'm glad that you're going to keep a look out for me. Thank you! If you get scared I'm sure Jek will be able to protect you and be there for you just as much as I would be if I wasn't recharging!
I look forward to hearing if you've seen anything tomorrow. Goodnight! Speak to you tomorrow!

Heeeeeeeeellllllooooooo CYYYYYYYBBEEEERRRRHHHUUMMAANNNNNN!
It's me, your ghostwatching companion!
I had no idea what to expect when I dropped by the ghostcam website and went straight to the...basement. It was dark except for two eerily red glowing exit signs and a strange dimmer glowing object toward the lower third off center of the viewing area. It looked like a glowing at first! Then as my eyes became accustomed to the room I reasoned it was either an emergency night light or reflection of the symmetrical red exit signs. Creepy nonetheless.
I looked into the Children's room and familiarised myself with what was in here(the better to note any changes that might occur). Not much happened but for perhaps some minor distortions of reflected light and dapples of shadows. The image remained constant.
Strangely enough, it was in the Research Room that I witnessed something similar to what you had mentioned last night. It was 2:40AM Indiana time and the room was lighted. I had been doing some script reviewing work and left the ghostcam on my monitor when I noticed something... a slight perceptual change to the room. My eyes caught a shape that had not been there but a minute before. It was in the right back row table on the end chair. A definite textural change from the usual graininess of the picture. A different mauve pixilated shape transposed on the surface of the chair and the table before it.Ostensibly it could have been interpreted as a figure attired in a full skirt seated facing the camera. The outline of a diaphanous head, neck and shoulders and torso could be made out trace like in definition! The visual imprint lasted for less than 30 seconds. After that I tried to conjure up a way of reconstructing that image in the same area of the room by imaginaton or an assembling of existing factors of light and shifting shadows. But I could not. There was definitely an image that came into view and then vanished!
I can't explain what I saw but I've just described what it was that I was in the process of seeing. It is difficult for the mind to grasp something that is so fleeting. And it's easy to dismiss the double and triple takes I experienced before I could adequately focus past the quick assessment and reasoning my mind launched into...but there you have it!
Who knows what went on in that room for a brief moment?
Maybe all those years searching for Waldo and honing my skills in observation scanning"I Spy" books may come to something yet!
It's strange that you saw something in the same part of the room. The power of prior suggestion did pop into my mind as an explanation but the fact is, I wasn't particularly focusing on that part of the room. I was scanning for any perceptual changes and it was there that a change did indeed occur!
How was your day? And did you sleep well as I ghost watched?
My day has been nice. I went to a regional women and children's shelter
and gave a cooking lesson to them this morning. Cream Cheese and Strawberry Filled French Toast. I'm scheduled to do 2 classes a month. It's fun and it instructs families about nutritious and delicious meals that they can prepare and enjoy together. It's really play time for me and I get to meet people eager to see another side of regular mealtime duties.

Hello Cynthesis!
How are you today? My day has been not too bad as I didn't have to go into college and since I've done the majority of my Maths coursework I was able to have quite a relaxing day, with the only work I had to do today being to research on the Internet the way in which Shakespeare creates comedy in his plays. It was a more difficult search than I had imagined it would be, but I found sufficient information and printed it off ready for my English lesson at college tomorrow morning.
It definitely sounds like you have seen a similar sighting of the ghost of the "Grey Lady" to me, and I'm glad that I probably didn't imagine the whole sighting. I saw another ghostly image a few minutes ago of a female face on the side of one of the bookshelves at the back of the Research Room. I copied and pasted the still webcam image to my picture folder and zoomed right in to get a closer look, and it seemed spookily three dimensional and not a trick of the light at all! Funnily enough, there were also misty patches all around the face.
Just to let you know that after tonight I won't be back online for a while as I will be receiving my English coursework this week and will have to focus on that for the next few weeks. So I can't say for sure when I'll be back online again, but it probably won't be for a while.
To quote the First Doctor -
"One day, I shall come back. Yes, but until then, there must be no regrets, no tears and no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs, and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine."
If you need to reach me for whatever reason during my absence, you can e-mail me at [email protected].

Oh CYBERHUMAN!
I'm going to miss you so much! But I do know that all of this online activity at night/early morning can get in the way of your progress with your important studies!
So, of course, I do understand and as a very caring friend want always the best for you and want you to attain what your heart most desires!
Thanks so much for providing me with your e-mail address. I confess, I'll probably have to get in touch with you to know how yourMaths exam in November went! Like I said, my intuition tells me you'll do more than well. Don't prove me wrong, whatever you do!Don't make me send out industrial strength angels to straighten things out for you!
Thanks for befriending me here in h2g2! It's going to be less of a delight here during your absence but Jek and Hade will always remind me of you and it won't be quite so drear!
Please know that my thoughts are with you
and I'll be rooting for every one of your dreams to come true.
Take care. Stay well. Stay strong.
Most of all, stay true to being the wonderfulperson(cyborg,ok) that you are!

CYBERHUMAN Posted Oct 12, 2005
I will look forward to receiving any e-mails from you during my time away from h2g2 and I will check my e-mail inbox every day. Thank you ever so much for being such a fantastic friend to me here on h2g2 over the last few weeks and long may it continue after I return to the site! I have enjoyed our conversations a lot and it seems to be that we have things in common, like our love of the written word for example, and that's always nice to have as I think it really boosts a friendship than if you have nothing in common with each other.
Thank you also for the thoughts of good luck and your confidence in my academic success! I will do my very best in all my forthcoming coursework and exams and will endevour to let you know how everything goes! Take extremely good care of yourself and please remember that Jek is yours to keep for as long as you want! Like I said he's the best of all the cybernetic dogs I have and I'm giving him to you as an early (or late, as may be the case ) birthday present! Take good care of him, love him, play with him, think of him as one of the family, and he will take good care of you, love you in return and think of you as his mistress and lifelong companion. Just remember to teach him that family or friends are not targets to be bitten or scratched, and neither is the postman!
Goodbye my dear friend... Goodbye... Goodbye... Goodbye... *voice becomes all echoey as it continues*

*cynthesis watches in amazement as Jek runs in a wide arced circle around her,his head upraised barking at the sky*
Jek! What ever is it that you're on about?
Well, your tail is wagging, so it couldn't possibly be anything of a threat.
*scans the sky and sees nothing at all unusual*
I wonder.
Hmmm.
I wish that it might be CYBERHUMAN coming closer to us from his mission. I've missed him so much...*sigh*
*peers at the sky with hope while Jek runs faster and faster until he is but a blur*

*CYBERHUMAN suddenly materialises out of nowhere and stands in front of Cynthesis, a broad smile etched across his metallic face and a small matter transmitter device held in his left hand. He pockets the device and stands with his arms spread out before him in the manner of someone who has been away for a long time and has returned out of the blue to the surprise and delight of a close friend. As soon as he sees him, Jek goes absolutely wild with happiness and excitement, running joyfully towards CYBERHUMAN and rubbing himself all around the cyborg's legs in obvious affection and delight. CYBERHUMAN looks straight at Cynthesis and says oh-so-casually*
Hello Cynthesis.

CYBERHUMAN!!!!
I am so glad to see you back*looks him over quickly*safe and sound!
I missed you so much!
How did the mission go? Was that enough time for you to get everything done that you needed to?
It's lovely to have you back!

Everything went fantastically well with the mission to build a refugee fleet for the Kraalons who managed to survive the destruction of their home planet. All of the cyborg warriors they created were able to turn up and help the Kraalons to assemble the fleet, and the search has now begun for them to find a new homeworld. They even gave each of us cyborgs a little gift as a means of thanks, and I got this matter transmitter device here which enables me to travel to and from any location instantly and harmlessly. That meant I was able to transmat myself here from the interior of my spacecraft, which is now in orbit around the Earth. Pretty good for a thank you gift eh?
I've made superb progress with my English coursework and have nearly finished it now, although I won't get the grade until next April because of how much coursework is handed in for that lecturer to mark and assess. I really needed that break from h2g2 and now feel very refreshed and happy. So anyway, how are you?

cynthesis Posted Oct 29, 2005
Well, I'm quite happy now that you've returned!
Everything has been alright with my mum. She is much better now.
I'll be performing a concert in December and have started in earnest to rehearse for it.
The county animal control department shot and killed a mountain lion in my backyard last night. I was a bit about that today.
Other than all that, and some other things that went on here in h2g2, I've been okay.
That is one thank you gift you were given! I'm so pleased that the mission was such a success! I never had a doubt that it wouldn't be!
Unrestrained, Still Struggling
CYBERHUMAN Posted Oct 29, 2005
I guess the animal control department were just doing their job, and besides if they hadn't killed it, the mountain lion might have forced its' way into your home and it could have even attacked you or... *shudder*... even killed you. I guess it must have been pretty upsetting to watch though. I hope Jek didn't try to run after it or attack it himself, as the lion would have probably damaged his internal circuits quite severely. If you like I can install a microchip into Jek that will emit a sharp bleep whenever any dangerous wildlife are near to your home.
*extra for being saddened by the events of last night*

You always know how to make me feel more secure when things are going a bit unsteadily around here. Thanks dear friend!
Maybe a microchip might not be a bad idea for Jek.
Speaking of Jek, he's been a wonderful companion to me while you were away! He's the perfect guard dog and strangely intuitive pal!
Playing fetch with him is challenging but I'm getting used to driving out into the woods to keep him happy!
Good gosh, it's late where you are!
Even if it is Saturday I'm sure you'll need to recharge quite soon... if not now!
So goodnight dear friend! Sleep well!
I'm so relieved and happy that you have returned and look forward to speaking to you tomorrow!
Sweet cybernetic dreams!

CYBERHUMAN Posted Oct 29, 2005
I see your powers of mind-reading over the ether have not weakened during my absence. I am off to bed now as it's 4.15 in the morning here and I need to recharge for a few hours. I'm really glad that I'm back and look forward to talking to you again tomorrow! I'll put that microchip into Jek tomorrow and then you should feel a bit safer when there's wild animals about. I'm here to serve and protect all organic organisms and if I make you feel more secure then that's just a bonus that makes me feel a real sense of job satisfaction.
*He gets out his matter transmitter device and holds it up high*
Goodbye until tomorrow my dear friend!
*He presses the button on the device and rapidly fades away*

*CYBERHUMAN suddenly materialises out of nowhere and pockets the matter transmitter device that he was holding in his hand. Jek immediately gets up from where he was lying down and walks over to rub his head affectionately around CYBERHUMAN's legs, growling happily and wagging his tail. CYBERHUMAN leans down and strokes Jek's head with affection, and then goes and sits down in a chair. Jek jumps up onto his lap and curls up as if he were a cat, and CYBERHUMAN pats him lovingly*
Hello Cynthesis! How are you today? I'm very good and have been working on an essay for English today about how Shakespeare creates comedy in Act 2 Scene 5 of "Twelfth Night." I've nearly finished it but will get the rest of it done tomorrow I think. Apart from that my day has been quite ordinary and uneventful. I hope yours has been a good day and you have not had any wild animals entering your back yard or any fires to put out!
*Then, to Jek*
Now then, Jek, what about installing that microchip into you that can detect wild animals and give off a shrill bleep?
*Jek looks up understandingly but not afraid*
