Interesting teacher,humor is a life saver!
This comment hit me;
"The one thing they hate is noise"
Life can become isolated trying to avoid it.

I giggled at the Bronx accent being a surprise.
I have experienced that more as the years go by.
Accents can be very surprising the first time you hear a voice!
The first few times I surprised myself! I had an *expectation* I was not aware of so I heard a surprising accent.
I heard a southern US- French accent, Boston-UK seemed quite odd at first.
It must be getting very common 
An important reminder of the growing numbers of Multi-cultural beings, not seperated Multi-cultural societies!
