It is one of the delights of this site that, occasionally, people enjoy my sense of humour. My personal favourite intervention went unremarked for over a year before someone laughed at it. That was sufficient.

Agreed.
You should try writing for the post for seven years and suddenly having old articles being offered up for the Continuum.
I've also been doing cartoons for the Post for five years or so and just this year I find that people who have never commented on any of them actually would miss them if they went away.
Communication is an odd thing.
I found a letter the other day that my Grandmum wrote in 1932...
