My bedroom, and thus computer, is in the attic, kitchen's on the ground floor, bathroom's on the first floor, so I do a lot of walking up stairs at home.

Which race did you enter Z ?

Also, as an aside, I'm thinking of starting a "h2g2 running club" where we can give each other encouragement, post the runs we've done (shamefully few in my case) and generally chat about how much we ache smiley - biggrin

But you're right, this C25k thing really does work!! I finished day one, week three today and decided it hadn't been much of a workout, so I did it again without stopping. If someone had told me I'd willingly run more a month ago, I'd have declared them insane.

I found they've worked really well. I think I started from a fair poor baseline, with a BMI of about 34 (now down to 31), so I have always found the step up a bit of a struggle, and I had to repeat a couple of weeks.

This week I've done 3 x 30 minute runs, and I'm off to do my first 5k distance run, which will be over the Forth Bridge and back.

Last training session before the run tomorrow. 5k in 33:23...I'd be happy with that time tomorrow.

Well, being a die-hard musician, I'm going to give you a really hard kick in your softer parts, Z...

Well I did it this morning. I was on my own (not telling anyone in real life meant that everyone else had lots of people with them and I didn't), I didn't take my GPS with me, because I tend to run faster when I don't look at it. I ran the whole thing, and finished, well, there were lots of people behind me and a fair few in front. But the times aren't out on the website, I will secretly be a bit disappointed if I don't beat yesterdays training time.

So next question : do I carry on improving my 5k time or try a 10k. At the end I didn't feel like doing the whole thing again...

I appear to have entered a 10k for 1st of October. How did that happen?

I think 10k is a good next step - very well done, and have fun training over the next few months.
