- we import doctors here - mostly from Sweden and Poland. So maybe try your luck in Denmark. If you chose to be close to the British Isles - i.e. apply for a job on the west coast - it is even easier, as doctors tend to gather in the big cities.

I could learn the language - but not before August 1st which is when I need a new job. I really have very poor language skills, and it was always my worse subject at school - I find learning languages very difficult.

Also there's a big difference between learning languages enough to order a pizza, or even work in IT or Industary, and to be practice medicine. No one wants to practice their English whlist being told they've got cancer, or when discussing their depression.

On the plus side I have just had a nice conversation with two nice ladies in English Speaking parts of the southern hemisphere who are impressed enough with my CV to forward it to various recruiting officers.

Well I seem to have been offered a job in South Africa. I have provisionally accepted it. I'm partly really exiciting but also not sure what to do with my house and stuff.

Wow! When would you leave? And would you sign a long-term contract? I'm thinking if it was for only 2 or 3 years, you could rent out your house. Of course, you might fall in love with the area and want to stay forever.

This is exciting. A bit scary, also. From a selfish point of view, I'd rather have you in Scotland. I still think of danger and South Africa going together.

Ok well it's not Johassburgh it's rural KwaZuluNatal, which apparently 'isn't as bad' the crime rate is south africa isn't much different to new york anyway.

I'd probably take a year long contract - so renting the house out is a possibilty - but I don't think I'd get enough to cover the morgage. I could re-morgage on a longer basis or something.

The pay is excellent - for SA and accomodation is included. But it's a 3rd of what I'm getting paid.

I can't work out what to do with myself. I need to sleep on it. The 'telephone interview' was at 7am this morning, so I was bit sleepy. They were keen to have me. To be fair I could, I reckon, do the job. It's not that different to what I'm doing now.

I would soooooo need to come visit you again if you end up in rural SA. Can you wait to tell them for sure once you've heard about the results of all the other interviews, though?

Go for it Z is my advice. I have Brummy mates in SA who i can put you in touch with; you will love the place; don't be put off by the violence stuff, Balsall Heath after chucking out time is far more dodgy!
