hello,
Sue de Nomme Posted Feb 14, 2003
I dicovered h2g2 a few days ago and your entry on Enid Blyton was the first thing iread. Blyton was my favourite author (I idolised her okay) so some of the critical comments did not go down too well with me. But I admit it was a balanced, well researched article.
Checking out your homepage, i see we have a common interest - reading. Though my tastes are pretty...what my friends call 'low-brow'. (murder mysteries, thrillers, etc)
I could go on and on but dont know the correct length for a message, so adieu for now.
Hope to see you around

hello,

Hello Researcher 218749
Yes I used to enjoy reading Enid Blytons stories.
Was one of them Swallowas & Amasons as it is a very long since I read any.
BTW it is good idea for you to have nickname as it makes it alot easir for other researchers to identify you.
Go into preferences then delete Researcher 218749 from the appropiate box. Put your chosen nickname. Scroll down and click onto update details. Then go back into your personal space.

just checked your homepage. I don't know anything about Star Wars (sorry, is that blaspheme in your book?) so no conversation starter there.
Swallows and Amazons? I dont think thats a Blyton book, but then she wrote so many, it could be. What was it about (swallows i guess)
So what else do you read?

No that does not matter
The book was about a group of girls and boys competiting against each other. The girls were called the amazons and the boys swallows. It's about a girl and an her ecccentric uncle who live in a barge. She anfd her fellow amazon friends camp out in the open & do the usual camping stuff.
There is one book that has always moved me to tears is the diary of Anne Frank, a teenage Jewish girl living in Amersterdam in the 2nd World war. Her family where hiding from the Nazis in the back of a flat. Anne and along with her family were captured by the nazis and sent to a concentration camp where Anne & her sister met their deaths through cholrea just days before the advance of the allies into Germany.

Hi there researcher # welcome to h2g2!!! I'm a Blyton fan as well! but as edited guide artlics have to be balanced I did have to include the critism and I hope soundly debunked it!!
By the Way I have read "Swallows and Amazons" and it's by Arthur Ransom, not quiet as good as Blyton! it's the kind of book your teacher wanted you to read!
As Jedi said please just type something in your personal space and change your name to something more memorable!
See your around soon
Z
Ps. looking forward to meeting you at the meet J!

I remember reading diary of Anne Frank when I was quite young and i was very moved. Must get hold of it again. I love re-reading books, at least the ones that i enjoyed the first time around.
See ya

I just wanted to drop you a note to say...I couldn`t agree more w/your critique of the 'early' learning process~that`s why I ed college.W/out a thought of a 'pratical' major,I simply took all the classes that other studdents adored!Ended up fitting it to an anthropology major. But found Psycho-sociology(from the sociological point of view)my last quarter in School.Meant to go back for MA in it but haven`t yet.1 thing for sure,I`m happy at the college-level of learning.

Sue
I have not got anywhere near MA standard. I have been to an ordinary college but I have only done Business Administration to Level 2 standard.
