Twisted Ankle and Passed Out
Ellen Posted Dec 8, 2007
The doctor said it's not unusual for people to pass out when in pain like that, and said that as long as I'm not nauseated or getting headaches, that I should be fine. He said it would probably take about six weeks for the ankle to heal. And yes Terri, he said R.I.C.E. So I am resting as much as possible, and keeping the ankle up as much as possible.
Keep sending good vibes and tea and sympathy my way!

Oh yes, and the ankle's about the same, puffy and bruised up a bit. But no sharp pain. And no pain when I'm lying down. Siblings brought me some groceries.

Phew; so seems like it got badly wrenched, but no ligaments torn. Good girl to get it seen to quickly, that was my mistake with my knee, i thought "Bah, i am tough as old boots, it's just twisted, it will go away"....er, but it didn't, so i ended up in hospital & an op...if i'd got it sorted right away, it might have not been necessary.
So: we'd better think of some exciting stuff to go with your R;I;C;E...bamboo shoots, water chestnuts, shiitake mushrooms, scallions, with soy sauce & a touch of chilli? Get those helpful sibs round to a decent Chinese takeaway!

Hi Ellen and everyone else! Ellen, I'm sure you'll recover wonderfully. At any rate I am sending vibes and sympathy your way just the same! I hope you enjoy this rest period of lying around and getting pampered by your siblings! You'll probably get a lot of reading done, won't you?

Sympathy from me too - Bear in mind that it's probably a sign that you've been doing too much and should try and ease up. Moving is, of course, totally unconducive to slowing down and doing less - Vicious circle.
Hope you find the right balance and come out of it a happy

Eek! Poor you.
My only injuries are self-inflicted. I'm down south for the departmental Xmas night out. I got back to my hotel @ 1.30am.

Hi Edward, I was wondering where you were. Welcome.
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes.
I'm getting a little frustrated with the pain -- I'm ready for my ankle to hurry up and get well.

Oh I hear you JEllen, it certainly isn't the easiest thing to wait for full(or at least pain-free)use of that ankle again. Hang in there!

Ankle is still rather sore. I may need to find a stationary bike I can ride gently and strengthen my ankle/foot.

That might be an idea, or even some gentle ankle-rotation excercises.

have you tried a cross trainer? (I'm not sure if you have access to things like that)

Ellen Posted Jan 23, 2008
Is that a type of shoe or a piece of exercise equipment????

I see a cross trainer as a very surly and snappy gym-addict.
