Andrea Ortiz...used to want a coffeeshop...now I want a restaurant Posted Aug 4, 2003
Sorry for such a short description of Legally Blonde II...but it was very accurate....bad is the only word that can really describe it. My boyfriend thought so too. I was so sorry as I was the one who wanted to see it...we could have watched movies that we knew would be good instead.

Thanks for the warning Andrea on Legally Blond 2. *will avoid*
Here's an interesting link about movies and therapy that Abbi just gave me:
http://www.cnn.com/2003/HEALTH/08/22/movie.therapy.ap/index.html
I think that Truly Madly Deeply would be a great theraputic movie.
Anyone seen the new Kevin Costner western? I think it is called Open Range?

Sho - employed again! Posted Sep 8, 2003
finally... I saw otC
- let's get the ing out of the way, shall we?
enough already.
what a fab film!! I loved Johnny Depp, the dialogue, the way Norrington wasn't a complete waste of space, but an honourable man with both a sense of duty and humour...
Orlando Bloom was lovely, not entirely there to be eye candy (but 90% of the time just on screen to be admired )
Can't wait for Part 2, is there any news about that?

Welcome, Sho welcome. Yes, I thought Johnny Depp all but stole the show, and the more time that passes since the film, the more I think that. The way he leered with those gold teeth, and that dark eyeliner. He's got a new movie opening - Once Upon a Time in Mexico. HOLLERS >Anybody heard anything about this one?<HOLLERS Some kind of shoot-em-up. This may call for a buzz by Rotten Tomatoes.
Yes, I thought to myself at the end of Pirates, that they'd left it open for a sequel. But I haven't heard whether, or when, they might really film it.
Cool things on DVD -- The Lord of the Rings: The TWO TOWERS. While it loses a lot of punch on the small screen, the bonus disc has some totally cool stuff, like footage of Andy Serkis doing Gollum, and a short film by Sean Astin (Sam).

Still haven't decided whether Orlando Bloom is A) handsome (I mean obviously he makes a pretty elf-boy) or B) can act. Unfortunately no chance to tell in Pirates because Johnny Depp blows him off the screen.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico is the final of Rodriquez' Mexico trilogy - El Mariachi and Desperado being the first two. If you like things being blown up in Mexican style with lots of flare and a functional plot then this is probably something you'd like. I do, so I will probably see it when it does come out over here.
It's all animation over here at the moment I'm hoping to see:-
Bellevue Rendevous - french and trippy is what I've been told by friends who have seen it, but they all recommend it.
Sprited Away - Japanese, word on this is great and dubbed by people from Pixar
Finding Nemo - I like Pixar I think the spirit of Henson may have gone to rest there.
Still moping about the fact that my local cinema has closed.

Hi there Purple Dragon!!!
Yes, it is a sad thing when theatres close.
I saw Matchstick Men with Nic Cage. He plays a con artist with an obsessive complex. I thought it was very good. Kept me guessing till the very end. The girl that plays Cage's daughter was fresh and appealing - I hope to see her in more flicks.

So I saw Once Upon A Time In Mexico its very bloody, very silly, very gory and the plot has too many characters in it and so seems to make very little sense. But I enjoyed it none the less, despite the gore.
Saw a trailer for The Return of The King which looks up to the usual standard, with a very good spider animation.
The League of Extraodinary Gentlemen which cannot hide the fact that it has terrible special effects, even when they edit the trailer fast.
And also Kill Bill, which looks better than I think it deserves to be. I thought maybe quentin Tarantino was being too arrogant, even for him, by releasing the film in two parts, releasing the sound track in advance and so on.
Nobody checked out tickets at the cinema so maybe I should stop paying.

Anybody know anything about the new movie with Bill Murray - Lost in Translation? It's set in Japan. Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) gave it a really good review, but I haven't heard anything else about it.
I'm looking foward to Intolerable Cruelty. (That is the name isn't it? The new comedy from the Coen brothers starring George Clooney) The previews look terribly funny.

Saw two really subtle films I liked a lot - Lost in Translation in the theatres, and Heaven on DVD. "Lost" starred Bill Murray and Scarlett Johanson (sp?), both fine actors in fine roles. "Heaven" starred Cate Blanchett - she's my favorite actress. I will post more about these when I have more time.
Intolerable Cruelty was wickedly funny, just as I expected. LITTLE SPOILER -- I liked it when the the witness was being strangled, and the judge said "I'll allow it."
PCandy saw Imposters last week, and loved it. I think it is sooooo funny too.

Saw Mystic River. A good film, very dramatic and intense. And tragic. My friend figured out who done it early on, but I was totally caught by surprise.

Thumbs up on Runaway Jury. Great cast, including John Cusack, Rachel Weiss (sp?), Gene Hackman, and Dustin Hoffman. The violent scenes in the film are chillingly effective.

Hi JEllen and everybody else!
Just saw 'Matrix Revolutions' and couldn't really make sense of it at all. There were lots of very boring bits and extremely corny dialogue.

Hiya guys! I saw "Matrix 3" yesterday myself. It wasn't bad. There were some good special effects, a few good bits of plot, and lots of stuff which didn't make much sense. I'd gone with my friend Stacy and one of her friends. Stacy wasn't too impressed, Ana thought it was terminally boring, and I was neither impressed nor disappointed.
All in all, I'd say don't waste a full cinema admision, but it's worth a second-run viewing or DVD rental. I'd be likely to watch it again on cable if I could afford any *premium* channels.
I'm considering seeing "Master and Commander" when it comes out, as I'm a bit partial to Russell Crowe. Otherwise, my next big movie outing will be when Krispy and I go see "Return of the King" in December. Need I say, I can't effing wait??????/
Rented "Down With Love" last weekend, and I was actually pleasantly surprised. It's worth watching for the dirty humor and the hokiness alone. Though I can safely advise, thanks to a trusted friend, against seeing "Love, Actually"

I know, I know...it doesn't happen often or with any real regularity, but I've got very positive things to say about 2 recent ones. First, appologies, I should've posted about the first one (Stuck on You) Sat. afternoon, my time. Really enjoyed the Farelly(sp?) brothers latest with Greg Kinear & Matt Damon as conjoined twins-brilliant casting choice IMHO! Cher's cameo was a real highlight too! Great comedy with heart/a romantic twist!
Just saw Something's Gotta Give, with Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton, & Keanu Reeves. Quintessential 'Jack' doing what he does so well, & a great romantic comedy! Again, splendid casting although both my friend & I agreed that Keanu's part was interchangeable...could've just as well been played by Noah Wylie or, I suppose even someone like Ben Stiller.

I'm not a huge Keanu fan, either, he was best in Bill & Ted. Although I did think he pulled it off all right in "Devil's Advocate".
I was considering seeing "Something's Gotta Give", I always enjoy Jack and Diane in nearly anything they're in. Maybe I'll check it out in the second run. Thanks for the info, Jazzedupcurry!

I'll definitely keep it in mind for when I return from my vacation! Thanks!
Right now, I'm itching to see "Return of the King", which it seems I'll be seeing Sunday. The wait is killing me, but it'll be well worth it.

Oh yeah, I'm waitin' for that too...most likely see it on the weekend, or early next week after initial crowds die down.

I'd planned to see it today with some friends, they'd bought tickets well in advance even. But I promised to see it with my fiance, who I'll be visiting in the UK, and I think seeing it with him will make it even more special. I saw the last two the first time with "dates", neither of whom were very enthused. It'll be nice to see this one with someone who appreciates it as much as I do, and who will hand me a fresh kleenex whenever necessary.
Right now I'm trying to decide if I liked "Pirates of the Carribean" enough to buy the DVD. It was darn good, but perhaps I can wait for a less expensive, perviously-viewed copy?
Have you seen anything else of note recently, Jazz, that I oughtn't miss? I'm a huge movie fan and I hate to miss out on anything good.

I know what you mean, it mahes a big difference who you see someting like that with...& fiace would top my list...if there was someone filling that position.
Well, if you recall I did start that initial post by sayinh "It doesn't happen often or very regularly", so the last thing of note was (believe it or not) honestly, Finding Nemo...alot like Toy Story, in that it's aimed at kids-no arguement there!-but theres alot of stuff kids would completely miss. The kind of movie they might totally rediscover in 19 (or so) years when they see it with their little one. Stuff like the Aussie shark & the support group "Fish are not food!"
Key: Complain about this post
