Needing tea and sympathy

Well, I am blatantly looking for some kind words out there. I had a friendship more or less end on me this past week. It wasn't a big fight, it was just the realization and acknowledgement, by both of us finally, that we aren't close any more. It's been a long time coming. When I first noticed something was wrong, months ago, she said "I need time to find myself" After a few more months it was "Work is really busy right now." The final straw for me was when she changed her phone number, and didn't tell me. Subtle, eh? Sometimes I need a sledgehammer to get the message. I am left wondering what, if anything, I could have done differently. She said that she had "grown and changed" these last few months. Implying that I *have not*. I am also wondering, not for the first time, how much my bipolar illness has contributed to the breakup of a friendship. Could she not handle all my ups and downs? I'm feeling panicky about the other friendships I have, and my prospects for future ones. Every day this sinks in a little harder, and I have to face the fact that someone I was so close to doesn't want to be close anymore. To be fair she says we "will always be friends", but I think a friendship is like a flower, it has to be nutured to grow. You can't put it in cold storage and expect it to live. I realize that I am burning bridges by posting this - it is after all a public forum. But I am past caring. I need the support and kind encouragement of all my hootoo friends. Please do post a word or two.

JEllen,
& all the other cliché's. I am having massive, life threatening (not mine, don't worry, but another hooter)at the moment (ask abbi by email) but still want to say:
You are loved, you are valued, you often get left out, you are like the little girl in the class who is "no trouble" but suffering quietly & still smilng.
I am so sorry you are sufering, you truly don't deserve it. Please email me, but my Beast is onthe verge of giving up the ghost, so if I don't answer it will be for that reason only not 'cos I don't care, I do, so do loads of others.
I have been up since 7am trying to do what I can to help various people, now I have to go & make sure two s arn't the hungry victims of circumstances created by humans, but I will be back asap, promise.
---ah, Yoda is trying to help, she is donating a DIY lizard kit. Lovely. Just whatyou wanted eh?
If I were you, I would lock yourself in your room, put Titanic on & your head off. You have good reason to feel depressed; you may as well damned enjoy it!!!

Hi JEllen,
As you say, friendships are like a flowers. Cherish the memories of the truly special ones, but don't give up on them if they don't all last forever. Nothing can make it any less of a hard time for you, but know that you have us, and chin-up, you'll pull through.

So, Ellen, it's been a while ... are you doing better now?

Well, I am still seeing things that remind me of that friend, and that still stings. But I am coping reasonably well, I suppose.

You know, I can identify with that a lot. I also have friends who for some reason I seem to have lost ... and I can for the life of me not figure out why ... and everytime I stumble across something from the past when things were still OK between us, I also get that stinging feeling.
