All this talk of fluffy and s... I just like fluffy ...
Smartgamer, you've inspired me! I apologise for hitting back, if the original nWo really promises to put the past behind him (or them?) and start a fresh, I'm willing to start from scratch too
As a token of this you're all hereby invited to the "let's just forget all about it and start again" party at the space of this account, and the introduction has been re-written

I'll make a better deal- if nWo sincerly apologises, (I can tell, I'm psychic- really ) give him "keys" to the account. Tell him the password and allow him to change it, and make the account his. Change the name, or not, but then there won't be the burden of his past errors sitting on his Conversations list, in his Message Centre.
A fresh start is what he needs, and it's what I want to give! C'mon, nWo... accept our apologies with a true apology of your own. Clear your journal, change your front page completely to something warm and fuzzy , and you're clear. Actually, all things considered, the warm and fuzzy might not fit the whole nWo theme, although it does fit . Why don't you just clear the page, abandon your account, and take the keys- if the Nine Wild Ostriches happen to agree- but I don't think it will be a problem.
I try not to be an except when I have to.

Hi Smartgamer,
The moderators job is to remove pages that are truly offensive or illegal. The rest should be dealt with by the Community, really, it's best if the Community are left to resolve their own problems rather than us just cutting them out.
The best solution is for NwO to change his page and the creator of the nine wild ostriches account to change his. That way differences are resolved. Failing pages is just the equivalent of us sweeping problems under the carpet, and that doesn't actually solve the underlying issue.
Go on NwO and ostriches, sort it out!

Well, you're seeing it now that the page has changed greatly- so I'd say it got worked out. The only reason why I Yikes!ed it when I did was because the flame war was getting really hot right then, and that account didn't help the situation any.
On a related note, you can cancel that Yikes alert to the moderators- cancel complaint number A130193, which is about that page. (Note- it's not really an Entry number.)

Indeed.

*BUUURRRRP*
Erm... excuse me? I'm American, okay? isn't my specialty...
Oh well. Yet another disaster handled by the community in the most mediocre way possible.
It doesn't help that we have somewhat conflicting policy- you didn't like it earlier in the week when I told someone, without YIKESing, that some people might take offense at her username... but technically, she hadn't broken the house rules as it seems "ass" is allowed, something which I was unaware of, so my post was wrong.

Oh, come on. I've spent the last four days making an ass of myself.
Geez. I should make a table-smiley of a donkey and put it on my page, I don't know....
I mean, name-calling probably wasn't the best thing to do- but it works in other places- give them what they don't want. They wanted fear; they got laughter. That's probably the most effective counter there is- but could I have done it betetr?
Naah. If it wasn't mockery, nWo would feel no pain. and not have pulled back. I guess the community lives on!
On the other hand, the Nine Wild Ostriches account was too much. I'm still trying to figure out who it is- the obvious answer, of course, is Clive, but I really doubt it. The only real resembelence is a tendency to use 's and a passing mention of species...

Hi,
Look I'm the Community Editor and I've made some humdinger of mistakes here in the past. We're not perfect. The whole point is that we're here to do the best that we can. That's what being part of h2g2 is. That applies to you, me, NwO and the owner of the ostrich account and everyone else. The point is that you're still here, still trying to sort things out, still trying to do the best that you can. Me too. If it was *easy* it wouldn't be interesting. Keep doing what you do. I'll try my best too, we can get there in the end if we all have the same goal.

s Peta.
We all think your special and do a grand job. Don't ever let a second pass by where you think this community doesn't appreciate all the hard-work you and the rest of towers put into making this the best damn site on the net.
to you all.

Thanks Clive!
You guys do so much. You all make it and we're really aware of that. This is *your* Community and it's *you* that makes it rock. It may sound smarmy - but please don't let it - the Community run h2g2 which is the way it should be. *You* all live here and work here and play here, we're just here to help you along. I love it, but as far as I'm concerned over to you people, every time. You've done an amazing job so far! Look at it, just look at what you've collectively achieved!

Thanks, Peta, I feel better now...
for both of your comments, actually. I did screw up, and it's not my first time, but everyone does at some point...
Probably the heat getting to me. My dad hasn't turned on the air conditioning yet and it's about 76 degrees Farenheit in here... I'm used to 71, so I'm feeling a mite toasty.
Oh well. A good try at astral projection helps relax one, too.

personally I find late night (or early morning , depending on how you approach it.) showers to be divine. and a great way to relax before climbing into bed.

If nWo gets round to reading the backlog tomorrow I suppose it's worth pointing out that *this* ::gestures to the subsequent discussions in this forum since earlier:: is the nice happy friendly *COMMUNITY* bit about h2G2 that everyone is always banging on so manically about.
(might go and grab one of those showers now actually I can write the rest of this tomorrow.)
