The guy in the pub had an interesting definition of a recession. It's a time in the economic cycle when people only buy what they need, and incumbent governments have no chance of being re-elected.

His mate replied that in his opinion recession was the time when public sector unions decide to help their party on the way out by making stupid demands.

A bloke at the bar next to them said. "I hear what you say lads but recession is when the games on the way up, your teams on the way down, you can't afford foreign players and the bl**dy management's living on another planet. "

Of course the barman had to chip in with:-
"Come on you guys, when the Indians start to buy out the Cowboys it has to be a sign that we are moving out of recession to a state of depression."
