YalsonKSA - "I'm glad birthdays don't come round regularly, as I'm not sure I could do that too often."

Hiya!

I have been looking at the AWW as I have a couple of things written that I am vain enough to think might be good enough for the Underguide. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to work out how to go about submitting them. Do you just submit them in the same way as articles for the EG and let them get sorted out by some poor sod behind the scenes, or is there a special AWW submission form, or are there certain buttons that you need to press on the EG form that deposits your article in a different area?

I'm sorry to ask you all this, but I saw your name down as an Underguide sort and decided to ask as a.) You clearly know your onions and b.) I liked your Grey Heron entry so much.

As I said, I have the things written, but I just need to know what to do with them.

Cheers,

Matt Yalson.

Hi Matt

No problem.

You in the Brunel skin? (That's my habit)
Other skins will be at most slightly different, so just try follow this anyway.

When you view your own Entry (or any Entry), there should be a clickable spot that says "Submit for Review", top right of screen. Click it.

You'll now get a message field and a selectable drop down list for the Forum you're posting to. Select 'Alternative Writing Workshop' from the drop-down list. (That's AWW, of course).

Type a message that you want to appear at the top of the review thread in the message box. Needn't be profound. Maybe something like "This is one of a couple of things I've written that I'm vain enough to think might be good enough for the Underguide".

Then hit the Submit button.

The review thread will automatically link to your Personal Space. All you do then is sit back and wait for the unstinting praise to come flooding insmiley - winkeye

Or if you like, tell me which Entries, and I'll post them for you. Others can do it too, you see. You yourself can put any Entry up for review in any Forum this way, provided only that the author hasn't marked it 'Not for Review'.

Be sure to check the Guidelines of each Forum before submission, though. Some are strict, and non-obvious. The AWW is most relaxed. As long as there's no plagiarism, profanity, or offensiveness to minorities, we take it all.

For the UnderGuide, there's one more criterion - Edited Guide unfitness. Only Jodan knows why. But if you need advice on how to make your Entries EG-unfit, I reckon I'm the guy to ask there, toosmiley - laugh

Well, the article is about a monkey that unexpectedly types the great American novel. I'm strongly suspecting that this won't be EG friendly. I'm rather fond of it, though, and would like to put it up for people to read. It has been posted on my Livejournal before now, but I don't think that counts as plagiarism, since I still wrote it. It also links in with the original Guide, as there is a reference in there to the 'infinite number of monkeys typing Shakespeare' idea as well.

I'm slightly concerned that you say there should be 'no profanity'. I was told that it was positively encouraged. smiley - biggrin And it's all artisticly justified.

Thanks for your help. I am in Brunel, (I think,) so I'll see if I can get it sorted.

Cheers,

Matt Yalson.

The article has been submitted and is available to be read at A4067381. Thanks for your help. I should really have known how to do that, as I have already submitted a couple of things to PR, but I forgot how the whole system worked.
