Welcome to my space, I'm Bambi, a mad, sad little person from the north-east of England.
What I do...
I am currently a post-doctoral research assistant after recently completing a Ph. D. in the specific area of crystallography. This is the study of crystals using X-rays or neutrons. I wrote a little bit about crystals, X-rays and diffraction, for h2g2, which explains a bit about what I do and how I do it. I don't think it's too complicated, but why don't you have a quick look and let me know? If people think it's good enough, I might put it up for peer review, but I could do with a bit of confidence before I do that, so if you do read it, please let me know what you think.
What I like...
My latest craze is musicand buying CDs off the internet, particularly E-Bay. I have always liked what I would call "nice" music (that is music that you can hear the words in and listen to without ear pretectors), but recently discovered that modern folk music fits right into that category. My other half and I have always liked Fairport Convention with him liking the older stuff and me the more modern bits. Since then we have found a few other people we like. For example, Kate Rusby, John Tams, Coope, Boyes and Simpson, Ben and Joe Broughton, Waterson:Carthy and so on. Please let me know if you have similar tastes and have any other suggestions!
h2g2
I joined h2g2 a while ago now, but I don't have time to spend much time logged-on. I tend to go through phases, sometimes I'm logged-on all the time and then I don't logon for weeks/months. However, I think it's a really great place to meet people and find out about the world - when I remember! I am now officially Keeper of Crystals; a title I feel honoured to hold.
I also now hold the title of "Royal Hart Royal", the Stag of Balwyniti. I am currently settling into my new home in the forests of Balwyniti, looking for a mate so that we can have fawns together... Any Takers?

Other than work, I am a quiet little soul who lives in a small house with my partner and. I enjoy reading and listening to music
I'm a friendly person (though it might not appear that way if you've been reading some of my rants on the subject of GD Bush and WWIII), who would like to meet some new people, so if you are bored / lonely / etc., drop me a line.
