George Fordyce and John Elliot
Hi all.
I research 18th century Chemistry for fun. My favourite people are sadly dead, but I shall briefly mention them as they don't appear on here anywhere else.
George Fordyce: MD and lecturer in chemistry in London from the early 1760s for almost 30 years. Taught Jeremy Bentham chemistry. Friend of Johnson, Reynolds, Garrick and Sheridan amongst others. Have rechristened myself in his honour. Should mention he was very fat with no chin.
John Elliot: Misunderstood apothecary who died on hunger strike (after trial for attempted murder) in Newgate Prison in 1787.
Wonderful men, both of them. Sadly missed.
Also, I am researching chemical affinity tables. Gorgeous things - would put a picture on here if I knew how to.
And I also share my life with a dog/panda cross.
