Hope you enjoy University a lot and that you'll still have time to post here and keep contacting us all, we do love you.

Just to explain: this message was brought to you by the Willem Love Collective (U185434) as part of sea's Reverse Wowbagger Project (A646373). I'm Willem, by the way! What do you have to say about Africa and about vegetarianism? I live in Africa, and am a vegetarian!

Oh yay! i have visitors, i've been feeling a wee bit guilty about not popping round here as much i have in teh past so is nice to be back in h2g2 if it's only for an hour or so... hmm vegitarianism is going well (even though i am still having problems spelling the word) i've feeling healthy and the vegetables are tasting great.
Africa was wicked, i want to be back there living out in a tent, washing in a bucket and wearing the same pair of trousers for weeks on end...not that i don't do that here but hey it's better when you have company! Where abouts in africa do you live?? I'm going to south africa in easter hopefully (my mother won a trip there and she's taking me with her...)

Yeah, I live in South Africa! Been living here for 29 years and not been shot at yet, ha ha! But pack your bullet-proof vests just in case!

So when were you in which part of Africa before?

I was in tanzania from April to july, i worked near dar es salaam for ten weeks in two local forest reserves out there, then went' to Zanzibar (mmm - really good cocktails!) and after that went to kigoma to see Lake Tanganika. I'm going to s. africa next april (but i don'[t know where i'm going yet) and i was also born in zimbabwe but we didn't live there very long.
Why/how/what's it like living out there? I never really got ot know any of the white locals when i went off on my travels, the people i bumped into were the travellers and locals.

What's it like living out here? Well, my life is rather atypical of lives over here. There are rich people and poor people, happy people and sad people over here. I don't even quite know where I fall. I live in Pietersburg, which is in the far North of South Africa, about three hours drive from the Zimbabwe border. I've been living here since the end of 1980. I was actually born in Pretoria, and lived there until I moved to Pietersburg. For me at the moment it is rather harrowing to live here. Very recently my father has been held at gunpoint and threatened with death by two men. There's a lot of crime here, and I am constantly worried about my loved ones. I am also worried about the poverty here, and about the HIV/AIDS levels, and about environmental degradation, but apart from that, I enjoy living here. There are wonderful people and wonderful places, and good things that happen. In fact, too much to tell!

I am so sorry that i haven't replied in ages. I heard the other day that many people can't leave Africa because all there money is tied up there, so they can't take it out of the country...Is that true?
Today is a sunday and it is terribly slow, hence the fact that i am catching up with h2g2. I was going to go ice skating but that plan fell through, i was going to go to the cinema but that also fell through, ah woe is me, i might have to go and read a book... shock, horror!

Hello! Don't worry about the length of time between replies! We're all very relaxed over here!
You asked about Africa: I am one African who does *not* want to leave. But what you say about emigrating ... it's basically a case of our currency being worth very little, so in exchange for a certain amount of rands you get only a very small amount of dollars and pounds.
I *don't* want to leave! This is too great a place!
And I *also* love books!
