Either you never log off, or we're on the same (or a similar) schedule... Everytime I checked yesterday to see who was online, there you were! And when I checked just now, there you were again! Where are you? Just curious...

Oh, and to answer my own question, I'm in California...

Hi Amy,
At the moment I am sitting at a very ordinary desk in a rather ugly building in a boring town in the most unexceptional part of England:- East Anglia. The town is called Brentwood and it is, by pure co-incidence, the town where Douglas Adams grew up. I am at work, trying to convince the IT people who pay me that I am doing something useful. I stay on-line by keeping the Internet Explorer window fully reduced until I think that no one is looking. Then I post of something quickly and put back all the dull windows and sit and look at them as if I am doing some highly complex programming work that no one could ever understand except me. I finish here at 17:30, rush home, switch on my PC and start posting again, until I fall asleep. Then I get up and start posting again until I have to go to work. That is why I am always on-line. I reckon that this place is just fantastic- its the best train set I ever had, anyway. I haven't been around very long, but I hope to be. How about you? What is life like in California? All I know is stuff from films, or what I get when I subtract all the grey from the sky here and fill it with sunshine and blue..

Gee, the schedule does sound rather simular, at least the work part (no net at home yet smiley - sadface), except I'm in by 7:30 and out by 16ish. This part (I work in Sacramento, the capital) has been quite hot lately...(duh, it's summersmiley - winkeye) The north coast, where I had been for quite a while, is (weather-wise, at least) a lot like how I've been told England is.

I'd write more, but since this post has been interupted four or five times by work, I'd better stop...

Talk to you later!

Gee, it's quiet in the 'Questions Only' and the 'Topic Drift' threads today...Do you think it could be because 2Legs isn't here?

Could be.. smiley - smiley
I guess I'd better go and post a question or two..
Topic drift takes a lot of work- I prefer to leave it until I have a spare 20 minutes 8)

Oh, and we got a definitive answer on the time difference question--the clocks are right, after allsmiley - winkeye...

I am not sure which makes me feel better..
us being wrong and the clocks being right,
or all the clocks being wrong while we were correct.
Think I may have prefered the latter-
That would give me a couple of extra hours in bed! smiley - smiley
Then, when I came to work two hours late, I could just shrug my shoulders and go, "Don't blame me.. blame the clocks." 8)

I think maybe I'm addicted...Last night, I threatened Tom (my husband) that if he kept it up, he wouldn't get a mufflewhump... smiley - biggrin

(Which I then had to define, of course...)

Never said "mufflewhump" in RL... It seems uniquely suited to this place somehow. And thank you smiley - biggrin... I shall save it for later!
8) It would be a bit wasted on me at the moment, I am afraid... For an explanation ... may I direct you to the journal entry I have just posted on my home page? smiley - biggrinsmiley - bubblysmiley - wow

Oh, I see...

So, tomorrow the mufflewhump may very well be a hangover cure? smiley - winkeye

I would have posted to the journal, but from what it said, I don't qualify...

And I agree that the word 'mufflewhump' is much more suited to h2g2 than to RL...IRL, it just sounds a little smiley - silly and smiley - weird...

Oh lack of qualifications doesn't matter Amy smiley - biggrin.

And yes, I think it is very likely that I shall be crying out for a mufflewhump cure tomorrow...smiley - grovel

You see, Friday night in England is traditionally the time when we gather together in pubs and drink ourselves stupid... smiley - silly

Ahh well- I shall be sober all too soon- and able to carry a coherent conversation then smiley - biggrin

A mufflewhump cure?! Don't you mean a hangover cure? Unless you mean the mufflewhump will *be* the cure...

See, you can be incoherent while sober, too...

(And may I say your spelling holds up better than 2Legs' does? smiley - winkeye)
