Not going to be here much in the future due to my PC being insane and thinking it's a 1980s 286 when accessing h2g2. Piece of s**t. Sorry, but being fond of long posts I can't be bothered waiting for the kettle to boil whilst I wait for what I've typed to actually appear onscreen.
P.S. This does not happen with other websites so I now have another reason for being annoyed at the Beeb's webserver.

It looks like it might be a problem with memory or display or something. PCs are rubbish.
I can only post at work and since I'm *very* busy, there's precious little time for that.
Anyone who feels the need to contact me via email or MSIM can get me at mattygoblin'at'hotmail'dot'com

A few websites have started doing it now. I'll be glad when the PC is updated, which is apparently happening soon.

You can get PCs for next to nothing nowadays, which is great news. Shame you live all the way over there in Glasgow, but if you want I'm more than happy to put on my steel-capped boots to 'fix' it for you...

I'm not sure a kick would do it much good, to be honest. Unless you mean It seems to be a graphics driver problem, or a problem with the software the sites use.
I tried the Opera web-browser but it just froze the PC, as a lot of stuff does these days.
We're getting a new one soon, anyway, and I'm throwing out all the obsolete bits of the old one and keeping the still-useful stuff (monitor, keyboard etc) for building a new PC with.

Why not just buy a base unit? It would save you even more money.

I suspect the beeb servers of being rubbish. I have a fairly up to date pc and broadband and it still seems to think of itself as some kind of athritic snail.
Maybe we need to work out when America is asleep and come online then.

The base unit is the brains of the computer, the big beige box...

Oh, the *tower*
Yes, I'm keeping that. It's been sitting without it's sides on for a few months now, all naked and a brand new hard disk that it's clapped-out old 1998 motherboard is too scared of to accept sitting below the "it's a trooper" five and a half year old hard disc.
