Like so much in this mind-boggling universe, I am a living contradiction: I am a planner who enjoys, no actually wallows, in chaos; and a designer who admires the ugly, to the point of rapture. As a Scot, I am fiercely proud of my country, especially when I am not in it at the time (deeply depressed about it when I am forced live there!) As a Scot, I am also saddled with the Calvinist enjoyment in being miserable, and guilt in pleasure seeking, even though I am a deeply devout aetheist! Sources of guilt-ridden pleasure include: classical music(especially chamber music, which I used to hate but now adore); jazz, from 1920's to the present; art, preferably abstract; soul/disco music of the '60's and '70's (I used to be a mobile dj for my sins); architecture, Mies van der Rohe in particular; Italian and Indian food; Dallas jingles (real anorak territory that one); particle physics, I just love the idea of spending Billions on smashing particles against a wall; astronomy; Italian cinema; and basically anything Italian.Latest Messages

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
