If you admire the ugly, well sugar you should see the dry skin round my mouth.... Blooming eck you think you got problems!
I like a nice bit of art, Van Gogh in Amsterdam was mesmorizing (spelling isn't my strong point), and I enjoy reading Haiku. Apart from that we have nothing incommon cause I can't stop smiling, I love church at Xmas.... and I don't know what Calvinist means!
Hey i'm not sure why i'm writing you... Oh I see it. You feel guilt in Pleasure Seeking.... I adore that! It's so Victorian, so, so, so Naughty but Nice!
Am I scaring you... I'm scaring myself...... It is 0400!

I am afraid...very afraid!
Calvinism is down to a Swiss nutter called John Calvin, who had a lot of seriously loopy beliefs (excuse forthcoming aetheism), like all beliefs, come to think about (woo philosophy: I DON'T BELIEVE, THEREFORE I AM). In particular, he basically thought that most people were destined to go to hell regardless of their doings in the here and now: in the words of Private Fraser in Dad's Army (an arch-Calvinist if ever there was): "We're doomed.....we're all doomed!"
As for your liking for the Guilt thing, yip, it does give certain things a certain frisson.....but makes buying any non-essential goods, such as a cd a total pain in the a--e. Re: smiling, I have an almost perpetual one on my ageing mug.......mainly, because I know that it annoys the hell out of my morose fellow Scots! And here we come to another essential Scot-trait: CONTRARINESS, we call small humans Big man and large humans Wee man; we call someone who is old Youngster......etc.
I am getting carried away here...probably not today, but sometime soon!

Is your mug really ageing woo? I always think they don't look their best till they start to crinkle. Love the lived-in ones.
