I saw you just signed up for the Royal Procrastinator's Society, and I had to rush over to say hi!
Welcome to h2g2, Jolietristan! My name is Shea, and I am an Assistant Community Editor (ACE). We're a group of volunteers that wander around welcoming and helping new Researchers. If you want to ask me a question, or need help with anything, just hit the "Reply" button and leave a message, I'll come back in and help you in any way I can!
Have you checked out the Welcome pages yet? They're a good place to start:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Welcome
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Welcome-DNA
If you'd like to leave a message of condolence for Douglas Adams, please do so on Douglas's personal space:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A5932
If you're interested Jolietristan, I made a page with a list of links that you might like to check out. It's at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A534953
There's lots to do around h2g2! You can read and write Guide Entries, post in your Journal, join clubs and communities, have a few drinks in a pub, join spirited debate, or just make some new friends!
If you ever want to talk to a Researcher, just click on their name. That will take you to their Personal Space, and you can leave them a message there (like I'm doing now!) by clicking on the 'Discuss this Entry' button.
Most importantly Jolietristan, have fun! You might find yourself meeting some great new friends! I know I have!

Thank you for taking the time to write me. I appreciate it. ( no i cant spell very well especially the big words- but i am use to it--my excuse is.. "rented keys")
I havent had a chance to check out the welcome pages, but i will do that shortly.
Did I miss something, or did the end of your note imply that Douglas Adams is dead? I haven't heard anything about it. but then i dont see the news very often.
Thanks again
Jolietristan

It's my pleasure greeting people! I'm probably one of the more talkative Researchers around!
I'm sorry to say that yes, Douglas died in May. Here's the link to the news story, if you're interested: http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk/newsid_1326000/1326657.stm
Maybe I'll see you around the Palace Flophouse and Grill!
