Don`t worry sarge, racing starts again soon, doesn`t it?
I hope to go to the Donnington meet, but don`t suppose I`ll get there

Sergeant Mushroom Posted Mar 21, 2002
I've not been marshalling for a while now- parents have given it up, and there's no way I can get there on my own I really enjoyed it too.
I think our club's going to Donnington this year
I've never been superbike racing before I imagine it'd be fun. Dad's going to Le Mans in May.
Main thing is I don't return to Uni until end of April- very little work to do, no one to talk to really at home...oh well

Superbikes is fun, in fact IMHO much better than 4 wheels...that`s too much of a procession.
But for me, the old stuff reigns supreme. I`ve had a lot of old bikes (long gone unfortunately )
And I`m old enough to have seen classic bike racing.....before they were classics!!
Re having no-one at home to talk to, you`ll just have to keep brightening up h2g2....with your giggles

Have you seen my space? There's a link to the club I marshalled with... http://www.crmc.co.uk ...I think you'll approve
I'm not a car person myself...Used to own a 125cc, but had to sell it due to being a poor student

Surely you're not that ancient? Mumdad are 50ish
And it's great fun- I used to be in the recovery van, and have had many pretty bikes to sit on while being taken back to the paddock...some famous harley once, though I don't remember the bloke's name...
My dad used to race sidecars

Lurcher Posted Mar 22, 2002
Ancient enough.. though I suppose you think your folks are old
Sidecars were always my favourite.. some of the contraptions they used to race have to be seen to be believed. There seems to be less side-car racing nowadays, don`t know why. Probably isn`t the money around now, it can be an expensive business.
Now Harleys..there`s a bike

Yeah, though they do have them on at obscure times at night...
Dad used to passenger a BSA Rocket 3 until recently when his friend was killed in an accident at Pembrey. That wasn't fun; I was marshalling. But that's the past. Oh yes, they were forever finding extra things to spend money on...spare tyres, entry fees, leathers, parts for the engine....a sidecar's quite an investment

That must have been a grim day.
The BSA Rocket! Spent a lot of time riding one of those, (the road version, that is) although I never actually owned it.A pal of mine had it, but never used it much, so I obliged
My pride and joy was a Vincent Black Shadow, absolutely superb! Wish I still had it..it would be worth a fortune !
Got to go now sarge... need some sleep. (the age, you understand <biggrin)
Nice talking to you, must chat again.
Take care

Pete's got a mormal Rocket three now- he lives across the road...him and dad just started a bike mechanicking business (south Leicester Motorcycles) so there you go.
There's a Richard Thompson song about a black Vincent<biggriN. I think
Know what you mean, I'm off to bed now

Maybe I should add something to this conversation, seeing that it's in my conversation list?
Not that I have to, of course, I could just leave you two to it, but that would just be weird, so I won't.
Though Sarge is probably still in bed, being a student.
On a good day I used to tumble out of bed by about 3ish. Those were the days....
