Hi there!

I didn't know that Todd Martin was from Michigan! Come to think of it... there's an article somewhere in the depths of Peer Review on Detroit... you might want to give it the once-over!

Tim Henman's out doing some charity work... he's got his annual Tee Party on Tuesday, with a golf clinic and a tennis clinic! The tennis clinic will be headed by Bahrami and Leconte, so that some amusing!

Thanks!

Thanks for the heads-up on the Detroit article. I've never gone to peer review. How does it work?

We are in the doldrums of the tennis season if Henman's clinic is the big news! Hurry up Master Series Championship and get here!

Come on Masters Series!

Peer Review works on a fairly comprehensive level - click on the link at the top of the page... with the Join in H2G2's Peer Review...

I think the Detroit article is on the last page of Peer Review... the link to the article is in one of the conversations...

Bored bored bored... smiley - borgsmiley - tennisball

Thanks I'm off to check that out.

I need a tennis fix so bad I may even watch the Davis Cup for the first time in a week or so.

Or maybe I should play. My wife bought me a new racquet last Christmas and I've only used it 3 times!!

I watched Dokic play in a Moscow tournament late at night last week.

No Americans would travel there after Sept 11.smiley - sadface

So she was facing a no-name opponenent.

Hmmmmmm... maybe it will tone down when the tennis season restarts...

Still no tennis on British TV... it's not Wimbledon season and there don't appear to be any tantrums as of yet...

Are there any Tennis publications in the UK that you can subscribe to?

We have "Tennis" and the USTA magazine.

smiley - cheerup We have the Christmas season to look forward to. Then it hits me that there is no tennis, still, for a month.

I haven't seen any tennis magazines... they don't really advertise themselves that much...

One month? It's too long...

Well the US advanced in the Davis Cup and not one TV station covered it.

I read in the paper that Roddick had a great couple matches. The team from India only won the doubles and it was the guys who won the doubles at the Cincinatti tournament that I was at.

James Blake was the other American to win , but, I don't know him that well.

I think James Blake was one of the guys involved in the Lleyton Hewitt controversy at the US Open, or something like that.

I heard somewhere that Roddick won his Davis Cup matches, but as always, they didn't televise it.

Somehow, they find snooker better to televise than tennis at the momentsmiley - erm

I think you're correct about Blake.

...and what the heck is Snooker?

Fellow tennis freak...

Post 73

Snooker's a bit like pool, except with a bigger table, and the balls are a bit different as well - plain colours and no numbers.

The players also have to be garbed in black-tie: waistcoat and bowtie etc.

I prefer tennis myself.smiley - winkeye

...and they show that on TV??!!!

Well the Tennis Masters Series Championship is the second week of November from Sydney Aus. They HAVE to show that!

Fellow tennis freak...

Post 75

It could be worse...

They could show bowls or darts!

I think they'd only show the Tennis Masters Series if Tim or Greg qualifies for it... just have to hope!

Well I should get satellite TV.

There's probably a 24 hour Tennis channel
...lord knows there's probably a 24 hour synchronized swimming channel!smiley - weird

Is bowls, Bowling?

Fellow tennis freak...

Post 77

caper_plip

I'd love a 24-hour tennis channel!smiley - borgsmiley - tennisball

Bowls isn't ten-pin, but lawn bowling - sort of like people gone to seed rolling a ball with a flattened side and trying to get it as near as possible to a small round yellow one... again... and again... and again...

Why do these sports exist over there?

Most of our sports though inane are at least sane!

Of course I don't know how to explain tractor pulls, monster trucks or big time wrestling.smiley - erm

Fellow tennis freak...

Post 79

caper_plip

I have no idea why sports like that exist - boredom, I suppose smiley - smiley

I heard somewhere that they have a laughing contest!

They exist to relieve boredom or create it?
