Sounds like it must have been a combination of dehydration following muscle exertion, but it definitely needed to be checked out... Sounds like you didn't have any more episodes once you were under medical supervision, though, which would be typical so you couldn't demonstrate the exact symptoms!

If it's any consolation, I sometimes get cramps or pains in the left side of my chest, but I also had a check-up recently and there is nothing wrong with me (low iron count, but nothing that can't be easily rectified.) I just treat these spasms as cramp - try to force the muscles to relax - although breathing in is painful in those moments.

It's good to hear you're OK now, and you probably reacted the right way.
