Faith and I are going to be flying up to visit my grandma for a week in Marchsmiley - biggrin

I was messing around checking out airfares the other day, and I found an airfare sale that's over on the 16th. $88 roundtrip, including taxes and fees! We couldn't drive up there for that.

So if anyone wants to visit, you can't between March 5th and 12smiley - winkeye

Oo, and it's looking like there'll be a micromeet in Portlandsmiley - biggrin (My grandma's in Salem, Oregon, which doesn't have a commercial airport. Portland International's the closest, and while I scheduled the flights around the shuttle service between Portland and Salem, I've got some extra timesmiley - smiley)

I remember flying to Portland in 1984 or 1985. My sister rented a cottage on the beach at Cannon Beach. We flew to Portland and then rented a car to drive to the beach. smiley - smiley

You can see Mount Hood as you approach the airport. smiley - wow

Willem

Heya Amy and Paul H.! This is Willem in South Africa again!

So will this be the first time Faith will be flying?

She's so fortunate! I've never flown in a plane yet. My mom, my dad, my sis - all of them have already flown a bit.

But anyways...

Oregon as well as California are very beautiful states! All those mountains and forests. So when you fly, is it easy to look out the window at the scenery? My biggest wish when flying in a plane is to be able to see the earth below as I fly, the different landscapes and the vegetation and so forth...

If you fly at a relatively low altitude, you'll see whatever scenery there is. (Yes, it can quite gorgeous. smiley - smiley)

If you fly high enough, you'll be above the coouds, and won't see the fround much, if at all

Yep, Faith's first flight, and my secondsmiley - smiley This time, though, I've got the itinerary magnetted onto the fridge, so Tom'll have the flight number and airline and allsmiley - winkeye (Last time, he had none of that info, just the time I was due in, and my flight was delayedsmiley - erm And since it wsn't a direct flight, he couldn't even just ask which flight was from New York!)

Even if we're too high up to see much scenery, clouds from above are very smiley - cool! Assuming, of course, that I'm not so busy with Faith that I can look out the window... And that I do get the seat I requested--window, in front of the wing.

I think Faith might enjoy looking out the window too! Hope you do get a good seat, and hope you get some good views, of clouds, and other stuff too.

Very dear Amy, Tom and Faith

How good to hear from you again. I have missed you.

I hope that you have a wonderful time with your grandma. I have been trying to get to Ireland to visit a wonderful Franciscan Sister who is 94. she and I went to Assisi in 1997, and she had a massive stroke 18 months ago and has made a quite spectacular recovery.

Very much affection my dear and a big smiley - cuddle for Faith

Also Ran1 smiley - schooloffish
