Hey Amy happy 7th year at h2g2 and happy anniversary to you and Tom and happy 5th birthday to Faith! My little nephew Christiaan will also be 5 this November! He's currently visiting us ... I'm having a 'break' from him now, and working a bit online. I've been busy all this day reading stories to him, playing with lego bricks and with 'putty rubber' (using it as modelling clay), drawing pictures, and taking him to a little park and pushing him on the swings, climbing a little hill, collecting pieces of plants (he insisted on taking a huge fallen aloe-leaf as a souvenir) and showing him a litte baby plover bird crouching motionlessly in the grass hoping we won't see it ... a fun day but it sure can get exhausting! He's now at the questioning stage. He sees how far he can keep asking 'why?' - for everything I tell him he wants a reason and when I give him the reason he wants to know the reason for that and so it goes on endlessly! Quite a challenge to the wits! He's right now speaking very loud nonsense to my mom in the kitchen ...

Jeepers, some scarey numbers of near dates come to mind now. Okay, September 5th is our own 21st anniversary, and last year I grovelled a bit in a park in Chelmsford (Essex) to re-propose and issue a new diamond ring. But this year also (same date) marks the 5th wedding anniversary of my baby. Gawds, is it that long since I reluctantly handed her off to that little guy? smiley - ermsmiley - brave ... smiley - wah

Thank you, thank you! smiley - blush

And you are an inspiration to me, AlsoRan. You've come through some terrible ordeals, and you never gave up. I hope I can do even half as well when I run into heavy sledding.

What on earth is sledding?

Sleds are like miniature sleighs that children ride on for coasting down snow-clovered hills in the winter. smiley - smiley

Heavy sledding is an expression that means going through troubles.

Hi my special English specialist!!

thank you for the explanation. I thought that sled was spelt sledge. As I have never seen one let alone been on one, I would not know the feeling.
