It is sunny and cold... but not as bad as it will be later. We began the week with my bete noire, power cuts! On Monday night, one from 18.15 to 22.30, and on Tuesday, from 22.15 to 00.15 or so. On Monday, we couldn't cook, or even make a cup of tea!
Now, there is a bus strike. I want to make it clear that I support the drivers, they work long hours for ridiculously low pay, I don't blame them at all! No, I blame Stagecoach, and feel like calling them very nasty names, when we get up at Sparrowf*rt in order to get to the train station which is not near our home! (Luckily, the trains are running, although as is to be expected, they are horribly crowded.)
I have just heard the exit polls give Blair the victory, with a majority slashed to 66. I can't help feeling that This is Not a Good Thing. I was just emailing my friend Tom, and I haven't asked him directly, how he voted. I don't think he's any fan of Blair, but he's even less of a fan of the Tories... I am glad I didn't have to make that decision!

Hi Apple
This is a bl**dy good thing. Labour need their smug complacent grins wiped off their faces. The closer they are dragged to a very small majority the more likely they are to abandon presidential politics and return us to a parliamentary democracy!
At the time of writing (00:43) the Liberal Democrats are getting swings to them in practically every seat of between 4% and 12%.
Vive la revolution!
Blessings,
Matholwch /|\
Yes...I voted LD.

I'm surprised, Matholwch, that Blair has done as well as he seems to have done! I expected he'd go down in a screaming heap. Pity...
I would probably have voted LD myself, as I couldn't bring myself to vote Blair or Tory...

Indeed!

At least you get that choice. The tories, Blair's lot and the LDs aren't even standing in Northern Ireland. We have one Conservative blokie and that's it. We just have to put up with our home-grown silly bikkering lot of idiots to vote for.

Tell me about it!
There's been stalemate here for a few years. But hey, so long as Iraq's not got weapons of mass destruction we're ok.

Here's where I can (meanly) gloat a bit, NPY and Shiftyshug... We have proportional representation here in NZ, and based on the latest figures I heard on the BBC WS, you'd have a Labour/Lib Dem government under MMP (which is what we have). So, we don't have the dilemna you poor voters had - I mean, I can understand that no one would want to vote Tory, and yet Tony B Liar is utterly intolerable! My symapthies.
I feel exactly the same about winter as you do, shiftyshug. I *hate* it! It's cold, wet and cloudy here today. (But I am listening to the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King soundtrack, which enables me to cope with the weather, and the go-slow of hootoo...

You're lucky. Politics here doesn't exactly inspire as to the future and decency of humanity.
And don't worry - you're not alone in detesting winter. I hate being cold.
I've just realised - you're from LOTR country!! Lucky you. Did you meet any of them while they were filming?

I'm from LOTR country too, the original, real one. It is fifty years since the publication of the book Lord of the Rings. See my personal space.

Wow, that Tolkien weekend sounds wonderful! I hope it is as wonderful an event as you wish, with great weather!
Wonderful space, by the way...
