Wow, I am overwhelmed with indifference... I just found out from my son that Michelle Mouton won the Pikes Peak hill-climb in 1985, driving an Audi Quattro. This is the same son who is eating Green Onion in my ear and sounding like a chaff cutter.
I had a birthday during the week, but I don't want to mention the number. It's over 40 and under 60. Funny, I never thought I'd feel that way about it, but at least I have nary a grey hair, unlike certain sisters of mine.
Sad news - John Howard (Coward) won the Australian Pretzeldency, but glad news, John Banks lost the Auckland Mayoralty. Woo hoo!
Must have some and ... following my wholemeal bap with avocado and iguana filling. Oh, yummy!
Oh, and by the way, Babylon Five rules!

My favourite was Voyager. Janeway was so tuff. Seven such an ice princess. Chakotay so buff. Ani.

We're just seeing Babylon 5 for the first time ever, having bought the first season on DVD... I am wrapt! Some people said on the BBC cult TV message boards, that Deep Space Nine ripped off B5, but I can't agree - they're very different.
Thanks for the birthday wishes..

I haven't kept up with anything after Voyager. There are a whole lot of new ones. Deep Space 9 was OK, particularly after Warf came on board and married Dax. Quark was kewl. But Chakotay...
I just don't get it. Picard's number one (Reiker) was so different from Janeway's number one (Chakotay). Reiker was neurotic and self-centred. Chakotay was balanced and generous. The holographic doctor was a real hoot. I loved it when he would sing opera.
My favourite one of all time though was in Generations: the one where Data makes himself a daughter and calls her 'Lal.' Lal was so cute and the story so heartbreaking.

For some strange reason, we've never seen that TNG episode - each Star Trek series has been shown here only once, and they skipped some eps to show it all (7 years) in three and a half. So, they never showed that one, and we haven't got it on tape or DVD, sadly.
My favourite character in DS9 was Bashir and O'Brien - they seem to go together, don't they?

ani ibiishikaa Posted Oct 10, 2004
Yes. Bashir and Obrien were good together.

Happy Birthday Adelaide!
Did you know;
Ftrom The Making of "Babylon 5" @ http://www.amath.washington.edu/~lf/b5/b5production
In 1986, a 32-year-old by the name of J. Michael Straczynski had a
unique vision: a saga for television that would take five years to tell, and would feature state of the art effects as well as a huge cast of characters who would change and grow as empires rose and fell around them.
Initially all the 3-D computer animation was done on Amigas using the Video Toaster.

Astro-logica. Oh you know reading the article at the link you gave us tells me that I was all bufuddled last night, confusing DS9 with B5. Yes B5 definitely rocks. Thanks for the link. Ani.

favourite characters
Star Trek: they didn't really have characters then did they, just stereotypes
TNG: Picard, Yasha, Data, Worf
DS9: Worf (again!), Bashir, that women whose name I forget who came from the local planet
Voyager: Seven, The Doctor
Enterprise: none, it stank
Babylon 5: only saw the first couple of series and that was a long while ago, but Londo and his lizardy enemy I think
quite liked Farscape, but prefer horror/fantasy to SF so more a fan of Buffy and Angel

I didn't think the Voyager characters were stereotypes. They seemed complex and flesh-out enough for me. Seven tried to be a stereotype, but Janeway kept reining her in. Ani.

I just meant the original Star Trek, Kirk, Spock, Bones, Scotty (esp. Scotty), the later series all had much fuller characters

I agree. Ani. Oh please someone say 'beam me up Scotty,' just once.

Thanks for that link, Alji, that's so interesting. I discover JMS is a year younger than I am.. I Babylon 5, and only wish I'd discovered it back when it was on TV here...

Blackberry Cat, I so agree with you about Enterprise! The woman on DS9 you're thinking of, was Kira Nerys. (I read an article in a womens' magazine back in about 1998, about a Welsh woman who'd called her daughter Kira Nerys, and I believe, Nerys is in fact, a Welsh name!
