Hmmmm "Researcher 179562" - never before have I had such a grand title :-)
I'm Nicholas Dubery, AKA "Bob" Dubery, AKA "The alpha male" (well.... if you're one of my dogs).
I live in Johannesburg, South Africa (a necessary qualification because I believe there's a Johannesburg in Arizona).
I have 3 dogs, 2 computers and 1 wife (though not in that order of importance).
I'm a computer programmer, and I use the nick name "megapode" because of the marvellous description of that fowl in Last Chance To See (which, IMHO, is Adams' finest work).
I program in Perl and UniVerse. I dabble in Visual Basic. I am working on getting my Java skills up to scratch. I was trained as a COBOL programmer but never wrote a line of COBOL in anger.
I am particularly interested in inter-system communications.
Also cricket (though not quite as much since it turned out that some players are on the take), Beer (especially classic English bitters), F1 racing (all those expensive, hi-tech toys), bird watching, walking the dogs, sitting in front of a roaring fire with the dogs at my feet and a whisky (or perhaps even a whiskey) in my hand (something of the English country squire in the mix, I guess) and talking a little too loudly to anybody who'll listen to me (which is why I have dogs).
I believe that there are only two kinds of music - good and bad - and that I can tell the difference between the two.
And, finally, I accept the Sherlock Holmes' first precept: 'When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth'.
