Hi Arl! 
I don't know if you've heard of the reggabwoW? Project or the WLC yet, but we're a group of people on h2g2 who are trying to bring these little messages of love and support to each and every active researcher! 
Arl, you are loved. You are a witty, intelligent, wonderful person (as I'm sure Anika tells you all the time - and if she doesn't, well, I'm going to have to have a talk with the girl 
) and even though you were that HORRIBLE man Lorenzen on the Mary Celeste, I still forgive you.
I have greatly enjoyed being your friend, and I cannot tell you how much it has meant to me that you listen to all my crazy, inane ranting and never complain. You're a wonderful listener (GREAT quality in a man ) a relentless debater, and a talented musician, and I have every faith that you will go far.
I hope this little message made you smile. 
Go do something nice for your girlfriend (even though I'm sure you do anyway, but still, it makes me feel good to tell you ).
