That depends. What is being part of h2g2 if you don't bother to check posts and want to read them, or contribute in any positive way? Are you implying that anybody who uses h2g2, and continues to, is a shallow and pathetic individual?

Precisely my point. They seem to think that by reading posts where my box tells me there are new posts, I must be a sad demented creature. Or whatever insulting tag they've come up with.

"I may be completely wrong -- but wasn't the downtime upgrade supposed to fix that?"
Don't know where you might have got that idea. The downtime was entirely SSO - DNA servers weren't touched at all.
You'll have to wait for the fix for the -1 news posts, I'm afraid. It'll be in the next real DNA upgrade.

Ah. Ok. Thanks Jim.
I was under the impression the 'X new posts' link was an 'add-in', if you like, which came about with the addition of the SSO system, that's all.

Lurking Italics
Thanks for that clarification! Unsubscribing to a thread and then posting seems to fix it (unlike unsubscribing and resubscribing!)

Gah.
"...visiting the page..."
I meant "...visiting the thread..." - but both make clear sense, I think.

I'm afraid that this is irrelevant to the current situation.
> well then, looks to me like u had a lot to do wiv the situation
As has been mentioned on numerous occasions in the backlog, aka and Saturnine merely *notified* Telewest of the loophole. It was Telewest's decision, and Telewest's decision alone, to close the loophole. Flaming aka and Saturnine is not at all constructive at this stage, and so I would strongly advise against do so.
