Christmas in August
Posted Aug 13, 2006
We are no longer going to have Christmas anymore.
Well, not exactly like that. Well, sort of. Anyway, this week we are having a sort of family reunion thing instead of Christmas. This is for a few reasons, I guess. One is that doing this sort of thing in the summer, we can avoid bad winter weather when people are flying in. Another is that it is just nicer here in the summer. And also, we are not religious so why the hell are we even celebrating Christmas in the first place??!
So we are having a sort of picnic thing this Friday, which is the only day everyone will be here at the same time. The people coming are my uncle, who arrived yesterday, my aunt, brother, sister, her boyfriend...yeah, that's it I think.
So for the next week or so, well, starting Wendsday, I will probably not be around here very much. Maybe a little in the mornings, but not the usual four hours everyday.

New keyboard.
Posted Aug 1, 2006
Well, the other day I was using the computer (h2g2 of course) and I slopped some coffee onto the keyboard. So I was like 'Oh, **** **** ****!!!!' and I wiped it up and it was fine for a few hours until the keys suddenly stopped working. Though it suddenly started printing out 'a'. So it looked like this:
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
So that was a bit of a problem. But I managed to get it to stop, and I shut off the computer and turned the fan on the keyboard trying to dry it out, but it wasn't working. But the computer worked fine and we could still use it, just so long as we didn't have to type anything.
So this put a bit of a stall on my Entry writing/Subbing. I the next day I went to someone else's house to finish off a Subbing job I was in the middle of when all this happened. And off the site I have under construction another Entry which was coming along rather nicely and was just about finished and ready for Peer Reveiw. But with the keyboard dead, I couldn't work on it anymore.
But yesterday, we bought a new keyboard from the Mac store and it is all hooked up and working. Later I will get back to work on writing my Entry. The problem is that this new board doesn't make the nice tappity-type type-tappity-tap-tap noise that the old one made....
In other news, last night we went to a bookstore to see Mark Helprin at a book signing. We bought this new book of his called 'Freddy and Fredericka' and it is a spoof of Prince Charles. I can't wait to read it, it looks really funny.
And it is incredibly hot here. Like, a hundred and some degrees. Celsius.
No, just kidding, Farenheight. But it is really nasty. Luckily, I am going to the library in a little while, so it will be air-conditioned.

I found this comic strip on the Internet last night, and I thought it was really neat.

In case you were wondering, this strip is called 'Get Fuzzy' and is about this guy who lives with his talking dog and cat. It's really funny. I was pleased to find this tribute.

Write an Entry
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
