A bunch of us are planning to do a Post group-write for NaJoPoMo.

I'm not at liberty to reveal too much at this stage, but participation will involve:

1. Getting assigned a character in the story.
2. Posting about 500-1000 words a day in the group thread, and
3. Not messing anybody else's character about.

The story's called '30 Hours in Hooverville'. Each day will be the doings of one hour in this imaginary (and weird) town, for which there will be maps and info provided. There will also be a triggering event for each day/hour, which you may include in your story or choose to ignore.

So far, about ten people are involved, from the forest ranger to the bookshop proprietor to the pastor of the First Church of Nighthoover.

Would you be interested in playing Arsenio Philpott, proprietor of the No-Bull House, a specialty china emporium?

As you see, these characters are tailored to the writer, so if you opt out, we just won't have a china emporium. smiley - winkeye

If you'd like to do it, I'll add you to the list. There's nothing to do until 1 November, but as everybody's talking about it, I thought I'd ask.

It would be a pleasure to run the china emporium in Hooverville. It would be even more of a pleasure if the china shop is *not* over the San Andreas Fault. smiley - bruised

I've looked up Mr. Philpott, and I see that he lives/may live in one of the following places:

Cypress, Texas
Tampaest, Florida
Marion, Virginia
Cairo, Ohio
Stanford, Indiana
Portland, Oregon
Polk, Ohio
Acme, North carolina

Please reassure me that Hooverville is a fictitious place far from the nearest potential earthquakes. smiley - grovel

smiley - snork No, Hooverville is generic, but is based on the typography of western Pennsylvania. It's near the Nighthoover River. smiley - winkeye The newspaper is the Hooverville Honker.

In a couple of weeks, I'll put up the town map and a map of the area. smiley - smiley

Pleased to have you aboard. This will be fun.

Btw, Acme, NC's elevation is 46 ft. smiley - rofl

Did you really mean typography? Or was it a typo for topography?

I plan to stock a new dinnerware pattern celebrating Rabbit Angstrom, a local (anti)hero. smiley - winkeye

smiley - snork Stock all the china you want. I knew you were the man for the job!

Mrs Hoggett has found out that I'm using the town's 1896 map for Hooverville. She thinks this is hilarious.

No, I meant topography. smiley - rofl It's late, I'm punchy. And I put up a whole Post issue today. I hope that's the worst typo I've made. smiley - winkeye

I don't mind your typos as long as they're amusing. smiley - smiley

For all I knew, you intentionally used the word "typo" inside "typographical." This can be our little secret smiley - shhh
