When I read about the swamp I thought "It's probably somewhere not far from my town." Everything is going down the swamp (beavers all around). My guess was right, I'm from Mass too. I just wanted to say Hello to a public library worker, because reading is my life... smiley - geek well, a big part of it any way.

Hi.

Nice to meet you. smiley - smiley

Sadly, with all the budget cuts, we can't
afford to buy many books these days. It makes
me smiley - blue just thinking about it.

What part of Massachusetts do you hail from?

Hard to tell... right now near Littleton, but in about 7 days I'm leaving for college in Amherst.

Yes, I noticed that, our library reduced its hours because of lack of money. And some other libraries collect books and then sell them (which is strange, I would rather keep them, unless they have several prints).

Almost everyone in my family went to
college in Amherst. My brother and
his wife both work for UMass. I haven't
asked them how they feel about Billy Bulger
giving up the presidency of UMass. smiley - erm

Hope they have the same wages, they sent me a letter that they had to raise tuition in order to keep the quality of education.

That's what I hate about the state economy.
Every time Massachusetts catches a cold, UMass
gets pneumonia. smiley - sadface

I do wish the school well, and not just because
I have relatives on the payroll. I want the school
to be well-regarded, for the sake of those who
have gone there, and those who will need a college
they can afford to go to in the future. The campus
used to be quite beautiful. smiley - smiley The surrounding
countryside is nice. It's really a great place
to be a college student.

Yes, that’s exactly why I went there – less expensive. Even though I’ve got full scholarship from another school, UMass took over my heart when I saw the surroundings. People also played a big role, they seem to be “normal,” not like reach snobs in private schools.
