Dragonfly. "A poet can survive everything but a misprint"-- Oscar Wilde Started conversation Nov 14, 2002
When I threw in my groan/complaint the other day, it was in the light of "other people have made a comment, and that pun merits some sort of reaction, so, ok... here I go". Didn't mean for it to be taken so seriously.
I guess a smiley connotating loving humor alongside my comment was absent.
I made the comment based on patterns I've seen previously:
Researcher: You really should put the pun alert before the pun, Paul...
And then.... Paul reacts humbly but is soon returning to his puns.
We're all vivid personalities here, and I really didn't mean to offend you in any way. It was intended more as a sort of playful recognition, and it appears that it came off as mean to you, and for that I'm sorry.
You weren't digging a hole and I found myself scratching my head when I saw that what I did was big enough to validate your own comments about the incident, more than once, as far as I can tell... I really did think I was just moseying along with older patterns. Maybe I haven't been on h2g2 often a lot, and most likely, I had the misfortune of catching you on perhaps a bit of an unhappy day!??
And yes I do have some silly posts.

It's okay, Dragonfly.
Thanks for the apology.
I know you aren't mean-spirited.
More likely, things in your incredibly
busy life were getting to you at the time.
My life hasn't been all wine and roses
lately either. My street has been
turned into a demolition zone, with heavy
machinery chopping up old abandoned trailers.
Bulldozers run over my lawn, leaving deep
furrows. At work, the roof is being
reeplaced, with pounding going on overhead
much of the day and no prospects of it getting
quieter before New Years.
The only place I can go as a refuge from the
above insanity is...here. I put you on my friends
list, and I hope that if you ever decide to
start a friends list of your own, you'll add my
name to it. I enjoy trying to keep up with you
are doing.
Good luck at Wal-Mart and with Ian. YAY!!!

YAY!!!
Sounds like someone upstair's giving you a LOT to deal with right now!!!
Peace and quiet is something we all need... I hope that things do calm down again...
Thanks for your thoughtful response. I really should have known deep down that you weren't terribly mad at me... but still...
And my Dad's often making up puns, too... ::sigh:: Can't escape them, hee hee!!!
Take Care of yourself!!!

I will take of myself.
The weekend should be quiet. No work,
and no demolition on my street. A movie
might be nice.

I've read some of the fundamentalists' websites
regarding Harry Potter. They really think he's
a Satanic influence that will corrupt children
and lead them to the . No wonder they're
tearing up the Harry Potter books.
Of course, as with any single-issue group, they
interpret complicated images in only one way (theirs),
ignoring other interpretations that might be
different. Rowlands' books are a total fantasy.
There is no child in the real world that will
ever be able to jump on a real broom and fly.
The spells that are used simply don't work in the
real world. I say "Acceo lupum," and no wolf
comes flying in my window at my command.

But Wicca is a real faith.... and has nothing to do whatsoever with the devil in most cases!!!!

You probably know know more about Wicca
than I do, Dragonfly. Didn't Wicca have to
do with midwifing and herbs? Doctors and
pharmacists felt threatened, so they gave
the Wicca people a lot of smears of Satanism.
The accusations of magic were mostly lies.

That's one part of the story. Another part is the Greeks and the Christians.

I liked the witch trial scene in
"Monty Python and the Holy Grail.'
Every argument led to the conclusion
that the woman was a witch.

... Haven't seen that scene yet.

I think I had to watch "Monty Python and the
Holy Grail" at least 3 times before I figured
out what was going on. I'm glad I did, though,
because it was a clever social satire. Namely,
if Arthur and his knights were going around
today, trying to grab holy grails, they'd be
locked up or sent to War Crimes ttribunals.

When you say "compuer at home," do you
mean the brand new one that was supposed to solve
all your computer problems, at least for a
while?

Computers hardly ever seem to live up
to their potential. They may be better
than what they replaced, but some of the
advances always seem to have glitches.
