Magic Kingdom?
There are crocuses and jonquils in bloom
at my brother's house.
A few brave periwinkles are out at my parents'
house. I can't remember any other year when
periwinkles bloomed in March.
YAY for Spring!

There are lots of songbirds at my
brother's house. This may be due to
his birdfeeder, which he keeps filled.
Of course, the local squirrels eat quite
a bit of the seed, and they don't sing
at all.

I get by with the help of my friends.
I'm starting to be like LightHouse Girl:
so busy during the work week that I can only
really catch up on my H2G2 conversations during
the weekend. I have a little time off coming
up next week, so maybe I can come here a little
more often.

I thought most of the Beatles had pretty
much ruined their voices by the time they
were 40.
My voice shows a few signs of wear, but
I think I can get another ten or fifteen
years out of it. After that, I will probably
do patter songs a la Gilbert and Sullivan
(I've written some of my own). Or, I will
focus on piano pieces. Not that I'm very good
on the piano.

What's in a voice?
You tell me.
Imagine having to base your whole
career on two little strips of cartilage
(The "vocal chords"). One of the tenors
in my choral society got an infection
in his vocal chords last Fall, and he
had to give them complete rest for two
months. Luckily for him, his paycheck
wasn't riding on his voice.
The Beatles recorded like crazy when
their voices were young and undamaged.
We can listen to the recordings.

They had pizzazz.
They were a sensation everywhere they went.
Their movies are fun to watch.
What amazes is that they made such a splash
in less than a decade, then went their own ways.
