Hola Paul,
I know Babel's already done the ACE thing, but having come here from your entry in the Limericks page, more specifically via your concerns over the day that calls itself "thurs", I felt it was only polite to point you in the direction of the Thingites.
We are a caval of crazed revolutionaries currently planning on storming The Towers to get the days of the week renamed. A link to the Manifesto can be found on my home page which can be reached by clicking on my name or here --> (http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U130666).
Our Warlord, Clive will undoubtedly welcome you and you get a smart revolutionary title (of your choosing), and what's more you become part of one of the most popular uprisings in The Guide.
As Purveyor of Fine Wine and Cakes to the thingite legions, can we count on your vote? Would a bribe of and held you make up your mind?
If you wander across, see you there.
Oh and watch out for the carniverous coconuts ... they bite

Hi, Ekki:
Thanks for the kind invitation. Actually, I've already
been to the Thing Regions. Twas I who started the conversation
about translating words like "Sodit" and "Wibble" that
millions of baffled Americans (let alone Indians, Hong Kongians,
Australians, etc.) have never heard of.
I'm not even going to ask for definitions of "Doobry" and
"Dontbry." I figure those are weekend days, and you can
celebrate your freedom any way you want (within reason, of
course ). Unfortunately, the only freedom I am able to
enjoy is the freedom from dirty laundry, as Sunday is my
laundry day.
What special meaning is inherent in "Thing," that you would
prefer it over a host of more interesting words? Wasn't it
bad enough that Beowulf and his chums saddled the English-
speaking world with day-names based on dullard gods like
Thor or Wotan? ("Come here, Brunnhilde, you know you're
not allowed to disobey me on Wotan's Day, which is named
for me!" Ah, those Teutonic gods. They sleep with their sisters,
and then wonder why they can't produce an Einstein.)
I think it would be much more fun to come up with a slew
of anagrams based on Thursday, and see if anything really
funny comes up.
I have no idea what "towers" you are referring to. Around here
(i.e. Boston, Mass.) we have some towers that have led people
to despair (In the 1960s, when the Prudential Tower was being
built, a fellow who lived across the street from the construction
site wrote melancholy notes about how Boston was going down
the drain. Well, here in the aughts, Boston is still going down
the drain, but because the huge student population turns over
every four years or so, and because a lot of them stand on their
heads, they think Boston is actually going UP the drain,
like the inky dinky spider....).
Oh, and one more Th ...(ahem!) matter.

By the way, thanks for visiting my space.
I hope you'll come back from time to time,
as I hope to put new stuff up fairly often.
All the best.
Paul

Yes ... that's it ... thanks, Babe ... knew it was somewhere obvious! Isn't it always the last place you look ...

Typical ... St Jon and I were about to go and instigate a thingite revolution ... you wait months for one and then 2 come along at once ...

"They don't know yet but we are just awaiting the execution warrant."
What power is that on the infinite improbability drive?
(I'd ask Trillian, but she doesn't seem to be here.
Speaking of Trillian, it took fifteen years for me to
realize that her name was a pun on a very large
number. Maybe that's improbable, too....)
Ekki, I hadn't noticed any revolutions. My preferred
mode of coping is to hide whenever revolutions
come along, because I don't want to be the first
up against the wall. Unless it's a wall of chocolate,
which probably won't be the case. But if it IS
chocolate.......
