It's pitch black outside and the only birds that are twittering are the ones which aren't smart enough to have found their way home yet!

No. It's morning. Bright and sunny. If Australian birds were smart, they would move here ... but they're not. Instead, they have to twitter in the pitch black of night whilst hanging upside-down with Velcro on their feet. Sheesh.

...and little safety nets to keep them from falling into the sky.

I can see them now.... poor little birdies keep floating off of the trees...

When autumn comes around, do the leaves float up or down when they fall off the trees?

Here, the leaves go sideways in the wind.

I've noticed..... they travel all the way across both states and land in *our* yard!

In autumn the leaves here fall down. But it's probably a different "down" from what you're used to. A bit more like what you would describe as "up".

Up? As in away from the lawn? No wonder you call it Oz.....

Lawn...... hmmmm. I seem to remember "lawn" being mentioned somewhere once before. Is that what you would call a patch of dirt with a lot of weeds growing in it? That's all there seems to be at my place.

What are you doing looking at the lawn? Shouldn't you be writing?

Can anyone tell me where the word faucet comes from?? Here in the land of everything that is good and proper we call it a tap. I'm not saying that one is right and one is wrong (but if I was, I'd sure as eggs be saying that it's a tap).
