There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho

Hello WD smiley - hug

I had a smiley - eureka about the GR Manoeuvre which I posted to the Scouts egroup, and Anna suggested that put it to you (as you seem to have started the account) and the others who use it regularly.

Here's what I said:

*************

From the GR Manoeuvre's personal space:

"If, however, it is found that the persona is abused, then it will be
deleted, either by Witty Ditty, or in the event that the password and
username are changed, then by a formal request to the h2g2 Editors."

In the event that it should happen, rather than deleting it, how about
simply changing the logon and password and then posting the new ones here on the volunteer lists?

**************

Does that seem like a worthwhile idea?

Hiya there!

That is what I did think at first, but there have been a few cases where open-persona accounts have had their password/username changed, and that's why I wrote that. In the event of not being able to access the gown and scythe, it might be necessary to go to the top to get things wrapped up.

It was also in part to send a message that this was a serious aspect of the Reaping process, and that if anyone wanted to mess around with it, action would not only be swift, but vaguely harsh too... I do see what you mean though.

Unfortunately, as I don't have access to the volunteer lists, that might be a bit difficult... hmmm.

How do think it should be worded?

smiley - sorry if I'm sounding a bit vague, but I'm moving house this weekend, and wondering exactly how much more I can eat...

Stay smiley - cool,
WD

Oho! You'll be needing this then A575606. It's something I began to write after 12 years of being 'man and a van', and then discovered that there already was an Edited Entry covering the subject smiley - sadface

I'm getting ready for work at the mo, so I'll give the GRM thing some more thought tomorrow smiley - smiley

I've had my fair share of experience in moving house (or in this case - flat), but according to the map it's not that far away; just the other side of a park - so I've persuaded the parental unit to do it in 2, maybe 3 trips smiley - smiley

Rather - they persuaded me. I wanted to do it in one, then realised that I simply couldn't smiley - yikes

Thanks for the tips! I'll read them in due course smiley - smiley

Stay smiley - cool,
WD

May I ask which park? I still like to keep in touch with things in London, having lived there most of my life, and spent a good deal of that time getting to know it extremely well by driving around it for a living.

Gunnersbury you say... are you familiar with any of the riverside pubs along Strand-on-the-Green?

Well, I used to work at one of them before I upped sticks and moved to Texas. The City Barge. It's the middle one of three - The Bell is closest to Chiswick Bridge, then the Barge, then The Bull's Head. I don't know what the current managers are like, so the place may have changed somewhat. The managers I worked for who turned the place around and made into the best of the three, moved on to another pub a coupe of months before I left.

It's also the pub used in The Beatles film Help - the bit where Ringo falls through a trapdoor into a cellar with a tiger smiley - yikes

Wait a minute... you're a medical student and you haven't visited every pub within a 20 mile radius of your digs?

Well, as a fresher, my halls were in S. Ken, where the beer is expensive and the clientele is so well heeled you would have thought them shoes....

Also, I have roughly 3 areas to 'explore' (read, get smiley - drunk), as I have 3 main hospitals to go to - so give a another 3 years, and I might just wrap things up!

I've done most of the Fulham Road - so give me some credit smiley - winkeye
