Bassman - Funny how people never ceases to amaze me! Started conversation Jan 13, 2002
Hello there, I saw you were on line, so dropped in for a chat.
TLAs. When you see a TLA in a written piece, do you just read the letters - knowing what they are short for, or do you fill in the rest of the words?
I always read the letters, so if I was talking about Light Emitting Diodes, I would say AN L.E.D. as opposed to A L.E.D.
Unfortunately I work in an industry that is so full of technobabble and TLAs that it is second nature.
Good luck with the study.

Hiya!
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply... I tend to leave the computer online for long periods, then go off and do something else randomly - so sorry for the non-replyness
I tend to fill in the gaps - unless the acronym is globally known... or just among friends
I'll go and check out the musicians' guiuld now... I can't say I've seen them yet...
So - do you play bass? Or are you half a ?
Stay ,
WD

I play Bass guitar in a Rock covers band based in the East Midlands, so I love musician jokes - especially things like
How do you know when there's a drummer at the door?
The knocking gets quicker!!
How do you know when there's a guitarist at the door?
He never knows when to come in!!
How many keyboard players does it take to change a light bulb?
Just one, he does it with his other hand!!
And one of my all time faves:
How do you know when the stage is flat?
The drummer dribbles out of both corners of his mouth!!
I suppose there must be a medical term for that
